Major takeaways

New event center in the near term
Numerous new academic buildings
Major changes to softball and baseball facilities
New central green which is currently a parking lot
No mention of refurbishment of Wisdom Gym
Demo of Bender and Ferguson dorms
Major additions to library, business and student center

Big dreams. I hope they can come true.

They missed the 150,000 seat stadium!
Also no mention of soccer.
So no football expansion?

Odd since we'll have women's soccer in 2022.

Soccer would need Locker Rooms, Concessions, restrooms. Rec turf field will be used for games.

Exactly and none of the plans show or mention them. If you look at the long term section of the plan, it shows a completed map with all of the new buildings, demoed buildings and refurbished buildings. There is nothing on the current field turf.

With chumps like NMSU, GCU and CBU it shouldn't be too hard

A&M taking Sul-Ross away from Texas State is a great move. I suspect Sul-Ross will eventually be renamed to reflect the "A&M" brand, and the BOR will see to it that it grows like a weed, ala UTRGV. A&M System is also making a play to acquire SFA, another great move.

Dont you think Sul Ross would get to keep their name since its named after a person a la Tarleton?

Thats why we cant rename Sam Houston, Lamar, and Sul Ross TXST-Huntsville, TXST- Beaumont, and TXST-Big Bend respectively.

Unlike these recent acquisitions, Tarleton is a founding member of the A&M System, way back in 1910. Nonetheless, A&M really likes to have "A&M" branded on its institutions. Just ask any Texas A&I or West Texas State grad. A&M has tried several times to make Tarleton submit, and the only reason Tarleton isn't Texas A&M-Stephenville is a Tarleton-alumn lawmaker in Austin back in the 60's saw to it that it will never happen. The story of John Tarleton and the history/traditions of TSU are quite remarkable and should be preserved.

Sul Ross was a Confederate General. Look up the crap his statue stirred up on the A&M campus. Texas A&M Alpine is the only thing that could fly. Gotta be PC nowadays.

In 2007, Texas House Bill 1418, was a name protection bill for Texas Heroes (aka Sam, SFA, and Sul Ross) to protect their campuses from a name change.

It was thought after SWT changed names in 2003, that the Texas State University System would change their names too.

Passed and endorsed by House and Governor Perry.
