With Cisse in the portal, hasn’t that ship sailed?

He could technically come back to team if he doesn't like any of his choices in the portal. Now, if Penny gave him some ultimatum then that's different but just because you go in the portal doesn't mean you have to leave AFAIK.

It is rare but possible. Mac McClung just did it at Texas Tech, entered the transfer portal and then decided to withdraw and return to TT. But typically once a player puts their name in the portal they are as good as gone.

McClung had to return because he already used his "one time" xfer last year.

By all accounts, Moussa is gone.

In the big picture, I think his "people" are doing him a disservice.

Had he returned to Memphis, he would have been able to continue on the improvements he made with the guards as the season went on. So much of being a productive big is having a rapport with the guys who will get the ball to you on pick and rolls, backdoor cuts, and alley oops. Also getting good post passes and the like.

He's now going to have to start over somewhere else (like FSU) likely against better competition and on a team that has a lot of players who already have a familiarity with one another.

Yeah, I usually have no problem with a guy leaving to chase PT, for personal reasons, or just to get paid, but seemed like Penny used Moussa like any coach would. I'd almost say Penny tried to use him too much on offense so I don't get why he's so dead-set on leaving?

It was the craziest thing. You see front tires getting ripped off because they take 30 seconds. You never see the entire rear tire and derailleur taken. Whoever did this, for sure needed a few minutes at least. It would have been much faster to cut the lock and take the entire bicycle. We have curfew here at 8pm; usually I take my bicycle inside, but I was lazy.

They're just stealing catalytic converters and front bumpers here now.

Years ago I had a Dodge 2500 and had the catalytic converter and the horn (of all things) stolen.

Quote:Palladium is a precious metal that is more valuable than gold, and its price has skyrocketed over the last couple of years. In 2018, it was worth nearly $1,000 an ounce. Now, a single ounce is worth nearly $3,000. But as its value has risen, devices that use palladium have become magnets for thieves.

The metal is primarily used inside of a catalytic converter, a device that converts harmful emissions such as carbon monoxide and nitrous oxide into less harmful ones before being released into the atmosphere. Since their adoption into the automobile industry in the 1970s, catalytic converters have led to a significant drop in carbon monoxide and nitrous oxide emissions. And the more palladium they use, the more efficient they are at combating these emissions — making them the perfect target for thieves.

Over the years, catalytic converter theft has drastically risen due to the increasing value of palladium. According to a study of reported thefts, on average, 108 catalytic converters were stolen per month in 2018. That number rose to 282 monthly thefts in 2019 and 1,203 thefts per month in 2020.

Thats nuts.. yeah unfortunately where I live we have a bunch of growing homeless encampments that steal bikes and swap parts - so I only bike to places with outdoor patios now. Leave a bike alone for more than an hour is basically a guaranteed part theft

I buy/lease palladium. It has gone crazy. A small part of our business, that now requires daily management.

Cisse missed the majority of the second half for us because he was such a liability. Big Sam and Chandler will help up more down the stretch for sure. Big Sam is going to be very good.

Sam is a not a high rated big man coming in. Expectations for his freshman season should be very tempered. I do not see him playing a large amount of minutes and being super productive as a freshman. I certainly do not see him getting minutes at the end of games unless all of our bigs are fouled out.

I tend to agree. But keep in mind that HS ratings last year are basically out the window, because seniors didn't get good face-face evaluations and the summer period was largely MIA. Not saying he's better than his rating, because I haven't seen him and honestly have no idea. But it is certainly possible.

It's a very good chance Sam is better on offense right now than Moussa was. But he obviously won't be the shot eraser/alterer his first year. So I see him certainly being an option when Malco can't go. Chandler will likely be option #1, but Sam will get minutes.
Our best ball was late in the year, and some of our best runs in those games were small ball lineups with Deandre and DJ sharing the 5. Penny learned a lot. With Chandler, we likely see that type lineup a lot next year. Chandler won't have the O, DJ had - but can be better D (potentially).

There is a chance with more practice time and hopefully less covid issues that Sam will be ahead of where Moussa was at the same time. I think he will get some minutes each game. Not a lot but will be able to eat some minutes. I think Deandre and Chandler will also see time at the 5.

They will have to see mins at the 5 if we don't get a competent 5 in the portal. MD mins will be limited by his knees but he's our best option currently. If Sam can shoot FTs at 50%+, he will also get mins I'm guessing. DW & Lawson getting mins at the 5 will surely be nothing more than situational or we are in trouble inside.

FSU loses their point guard Barnes, to the NBA draft, has two centers signed to their current class, one #60, the other the #6 ranked juco, and has no point guard of note. They are getting Mills transferring in from Houston, but he is even worse at distributing the ball than Boogie and Baugh were.

He loves Hamilton and FSU was his second choice, but I don't see how it will be better for him there. It's a weird situation.

I was lazy. I've had it for 10 years and it was 15 years old when I bought it second hand. I always resisted getting a really nice bike because they get stolen, and I needed the resistance, since I only ride an hour at a time usually. It is the perfect hybrid city bike. Great for cruising, and built like a tank, heavy but it never broke down.

The BSU guy exposed us towards the end of that game. To the point Penny was forced to put Cisse back in the game.

Competent Bigs will be able to score over Williams\DJ. Question is can they win their matchup on the other end.

If Sam can shoot FTs at 50%+, he will also get mins I'm guessing. DW & Lawson getting mins at the 5 will surely be nothing more than situational or we are in trouble inside.

DW must have played quite a few minutes at the 5 in the last two games since the MD/MC combo played a total of 17 and 23 minutes. I don't think DJ played much at the 5 when they were out.

DW and DJ alternated guarding the other 5. And we were not "in trouble inside". Quite the contrary. We exposed teams and stretched leads.

Why have 5 on the roster at all then? We don't need a 5 or a PG, we just expose teams without them. And everyone lived happily thereafter with BB redefined by the personnel of 2-3 opponents. Focus there & not on the personnel of the final four teams, we might repeat as NIT champs with that approach.
