If the Big 12 renews it’s contract and no schools leave I think UCF & Houston would be viable additions. They both are putting major money in their programs and Orlando and Houston both are huge TV markets top ten.
Houston maybe, but UCF is to redundant. Memphis or Cincy would add a new market.

Agreed. Houston and Cincinnati is the play if you're adding from the American Athletic Conference. Those two teams seem to check all the boxes:

Committed to FB - check
Good men's basketball - check
Football recruiting - check
decent* fan support - check
TV DMA markets - check
New states for ACCN - check

* tough to judge fan support based on current schedule
Oooooo, I love fantasy sports talk! I vote for Rice and Rollins if we’re looking to add teams in Texas and Florida.
Cincinnati is a much more attractive candidate than either of those 2.

UCF is in a redundant market for the ACC, and I would argue that even if the ACC lost FSU or Miami, we still wouldn't add UCF when Houston,Cincy and WVU are available in new markets.

Houston while having elite football and basketball is wayyyyyy outside the footprint. Not only is Cincy adjacent to the existing footprint, it reconnects the states that have ACC schools in them. For those that like continuity of states. And even though Houston's football and basketball are good; Cincy's football and basketball are equally as strong brands (even though Houston went to the final 4 this year).
Houston should only be added if we went to 16-20 teams and had a TX based pod.

I'd take UCF in a heartbeat if FSU left... might even consider them anyways... however FSU and Miami don't want the competition
more mouths to feed in a dying conference. Makes no sense.
I've always felt that UC would be a good add in anyone's conference if nothing else to bust the balls of the B1G/Ohio State cartel.

Yes, I'll remind everyone again that as recent as 2009 we were ranked higher than Ohio State... in football. They were absolutely shatting themselves about it too.

But the B12 is too stupid to comprehend that so they can go on being the 5th out of five and having their teams left out of the CFP for an Ohio State team that went undefeated in their little mini season.
Cincy is a great geographic fit for the ACC. If Notre Dame joins it would be even more so. However, you have to give up a few of those SW Ohio recruits for your new friends.
I am confused .....

OP mentions the Big XII in his post ... is he talking about adding to the Big XII, or the ACC?

Big XII has spots to add teams to, moreso than the ACC.

Houston and UCF would be good additions to the Big XII -- but Cincinnati should be strongly considered by the Big XII too --- solid overall program, and big school, nice academics (for those that care, not sure the Big XII really does) adding to their geographic footprint, and bridging over to West Virginia.

Adding to the ACC? Well ... I see NO WAY that the ACC adds TWO schools to it's current roster. If the ACC decided to add ONE ... I wouldn't want either Houston or UCF. I'd vote Cincy.

I don't see that happening though.

Honestly I would like the Big XII to add some schools to it. It'd be good for college football.
Cincy has more ties to current ACC schools than Houston and UCF combined.

No. They’ve been sitting around for a decade.

True, but I think they are sitting in the "on-deck" circle.

On deck? That ship has sailed!
