Most schools could not have women's sports without that money. If they dropped women's sports, title 9 would force the cancellation of most mens sports.

It's a broken system and has been for a while. I don't want to continue with the status quo of ADs, coaches, bowl chairmen, and especially NCAA lawyers getting rich off "amateur" athletics. And then they only enforce amateurism whenever they feel like it (i.e. against schools who challenge the status quo). Meanwhile, universities continue betting on the come in the arms race by building shiny trinkets to attract more athletes to further build the house of cards.

Drop the amateur title, go semi-pro with paid players tied to schools. Now, it’s a revenue sport not under title 9. Sign contracts to keep players. Sucks for golf, tennis, women’s sports, olympics but is the only answer if the NCAA loses.
