The latest info I can find for him from March 30th says: "P Jon Duplantier assigned to Diamondbacks Alternate Training Site from Reno Aces."

Diamondbacks release injury-prone right-handed pitcher Jon Duplantier

Quote:The Diamondbacks released oft-injured former top prospect Jon Duplantier on Tuesday in what was a sort of procedural transaction that they hope leads to him signing back with the club on a minor league deal, according to a source....

While pitching for Triple-A Reno, Duplantier suffered a severe lat strain earlier this month that likely will sideline him for the remainder of the season. The team wanted to make use of his 40-man spot and thus released him.
But Duplantier has struggled to pitch with that caliber of stuff consistently in the ensuing years — and he has had trouble staying healthy, something that has dogged him since his days at Rice University.
JT Chargois goes from Mariners to Rays. Film at 11.
My goodness, what an entertaining trade deadline this was this year. Gonna be a fun stretch this next coupla months.

Astros @SF just starting. Typical summer evening temp: 60F.

Update: And the Astros' bats -- especially Altuve's -- are red hot!

Diamondbacks Re-Sign Jon Duplantier to a minor-league deal.
This is weird, but tonight was clicking on Depth page for the Braves on ESPN site and didn't recognize the player currently listed as 3rd Relief Pitcher Depth:

Depth page, Braves, ESPN site: https://www.espn.com/mlb/team/depth/_/name/atl

link to player they list: https://www.espn.com/mlb/player/_/id/4827

Now supposedly, he lives somewhere in the Atlanta area, or did, but I'm not sure if Braves made a very under-the-radar add to bolster their bullpen this year?

I think it may be Steve Nebraska pitching under an alias.

Considering that he is not on the 25 or 40 man rosters, he hasn't pitched in the bigs since 2002, and today is his 45th birthday, probably a mistake.

Oh, well, happy birthday at least.

I agree that it's surely a mistake ... or meant to refer to another pitcher named Kevin Joseph (although there are no stats for another pitcher with that name).

He's not listed on the Braves' roster -- https://www.mlb.com/braves/roster/depth-chart. But the other four relief pitchers on that ESPN depth chart are on the Braves' roster.

RHP Joseph was 3-year Rice letterwinner (1995-97), taken in the 6th round of the 1997 draft by the SF Giants. (https://www.baseball-reference.com/draft...ft_round=6)

He played professionally through the 2003 season (https://www.baseball-reference.com/regis...ph001kev), including 11 innings in a total of 11 MLB games with St. Louis in 2002. (https://www.baseball-reference.com/playe...ke01.shtml)

In 2018, he was an assistant (pitching) coach for the Texas AirHogs (Grand Prairie, Tex.), which was composed of 30 members of the Chinese national baseball team (known as Shougang Eagles) as well as 10 free agent spots filled by players from the United States, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic. He has had an exceptional year so far in AA and AAA. The trade to the Rangers all but assured him of a September call up.

Brock Holt pitched a scoreless 8th inning today against Oakland (thanks to some good defense). But it was very enjoyable to watch - starting with his 1st pitch, a 31 MPH ephus pitch for a called strike.

Watch the ending of the inning too. The crowd and announcers had a ball.
Fantastic -- thanks for posting!

Dabnabit --- another video of this just crossed my attention and was going to post it here.
A great tweet from Brock's wife...

Ever since they "acquired" him to their roster, Braves have been winning...now in 1st place in their division. Still, wish they'd put him in a game once in a while, or maybe I just haven't seen his innings when I've been watching?

Still listed on the depth chart (3rd in relief) hope they "keep" him until they can wrap up their division!

Finally a baseball fan who can quote Shakespeare instead of batting averages.
