Starting a new thread to avoid the stink of the Friday night game.

Owls up 2-0 in B3. Garcia has given up only 2 hits. UTSA making a pitching change after Comeaux single to start the inning.
Both games today are 7 inning affairs?

That’s my understanding. The 4 game conference series feature a Saturday DH with 2 seven inning games.
Bulman sac fly makes it 3-0. Runner at third, 2 outs.

DH Becker strikes out looking on 3-2 curveball. Grrrr!
So Dunlap isn't starting today?

Nope. Gneiting got the start in LF.

Sac fly after 2 singles and a questionable steal of 3B gets RRs on the board. 3-1, 1 out, runner at 2B after WP.

Bragga & trainer coming out to check on Garcia’s well-being.

Garcia will stay in. Nobody warming for the Owls.

JP says the pen is stirring now. F8 makes it 2 outs.

0-2 count rbi single makes it 3-2 going to B4.
Edwards walked in B4 but that was it.

3-2 going to the 5th.. Hopefully Wood is coming in.
Wood in for Garcia in the 5th. 1st hitter greets him with a single to RF.

Double puts 2 in scoring position. 6-3 (great play by Hughes to get the out) ties it up at 3.

Go ahead tun at third after PB (WP?). Walk puts runners at corners. Wood’s 1st pitch to next hitter is in the dirt and Bragga out to make a change. Gallant in. No win for Roel. No hold or save for Wood.

Gallant finishes the walk on 3 pitches after inheriting a 1-0 count. Bases loaded. 5 straight balls now from Gallant. Grrr!

Finally a strike. And then a 2 rbi single up the middle. Sigh.

Owls almost gift UTSA another run after a K. Throw to 1st gets away, but runner called out for obstructing throw.

Glad I didn’t make the 3.5 hr drive to see this mess in person. Painful enough on CUSA - TV.

Kind of a quick hook for Wood with 2 outs. Wonder if he saw something or just not wanting this to potentially turn into a big inning. Hopefully Gallant had time to get ready in the bull pen. We'll see I guess.
Anyone want to re-think their conference record predictions? Anyone still care?

Wood’s control was bad from the git go. Unfortunately, Gallant’s wasn’t any better.
Quick 1-2-3 for Bragga’s gorilla ball offense.

I don’t know if I made a prediction but I think I said anything 18-14 or better would be a success... And this obviously is trending in the wrong direction already!

I guess the question is, what was how long did Wood have to warm up? Was it a "run down and get hot as soon as possible" or was he throwing for a while in the BP and ready to go just had an off day? I still think BP management is something that needs to be evaluated on this team. BP guys should be in the BP by the 3rd inning. They are smart guys and can see how the game is going whether or not to start getting loose. Running down and "get hot fast" strategy does not work for most pitchers. Just my opinion.

Don’t disagree. To be fair, JP said there was stirring in the Owls BP in the 4th. He never said who was up, but hopefully it was Wood before he entered ib the 5th
Tomball Memorial HS Wildcat, sophomore John Chomko, is crusing against the Owl offense. Love my Wildcats, but the Owls hitters need to get to him ASAP. Only 6 outs left.

And just like that, Bulman doubles off the top of the wall to lead off the B6. Hallmark wastes no time in making a change.

4 posters to this thread so far. So I’m guessing the answer to my second question is not many.
Rbi single by Becker makes it 4-5. Pinch runner for Becker.

Sac bunt attempt goes right back to pitcher who gets the lead runner at 2B. Grrr!

Hughes lines one off 2Bman’s glove. E4. 2 on. 6-4 makes it 2 outs, runners on the corners. Gneiting up.

Stupid. It's only the 6th inning. Why put in a PR and then not attempt to sacrifice the potentially tying run to 2B? If you were not going to try to bunt, why pinch run? And why such a quick hook on Wood?

It’s a 7 inning game.
