Pool
So just 8 teams make the tourney and 2 4 team pools?
We’re just going to have a dance contest. Whoever has the best moves gets the NCAA spot

Yea, but I think top 2 from each pool advances instead of just the best team
Ok so everyone plays 3 pool games then 4 advance to semifinals. Lots of games— I like it

I admit, I don't know for sure, I just know the Sun Belt has booked the typical Tuesday-Sunday dates for the tournament. Two Four team pools can be played in four days with each team getting one day off. That leaves two days left, so top 2 makes the most sense, allowing for a true Semifinal Saturday.

I still prefer Double Elimination, but this would be the simplest solution to save arms for the tournament, while providing the low seeds a legitimate chance to win. In a traditional top team from each group format, the low seeds pretty much have to win all three games to advance as higher seed often wins three team tiebreakers.
Everybody makes every tournament this year because of COVID ... they didn't want teams missing out on tournaments because of games getting canceled

That was the original plan, I believe it's pivoted since.

I'm not sure how you run pool play with 12 teams. There's 3 groups so you can't just go straight to the final, and even with 4 games a day its tough scheduling to get the entire thing in in 6 days.

The only thing I could see would be either a play in round for the 5-12 seeds on Tuesday, or podding each pool so that the higher seeds are overloaded into one pool, where the best 2 teams advance opposed to the best team in other groups.
The tournament will feature all 12 teams, split into four pods of three teams each. Everyone is guaranteed two games. The four pod winners go to a single elimination semifinal round on Saturday with the finals on Sunday.

And, no, i don't know the tiebreaker if everyone in a pod goes 1-1.

I do know the division winners have an advantage. #1 West has #4 East and #6 West in their pod, and so on.
So if I am calculating right that s 12 games over 4 days (Tues-Fri)—- 3 games a day. Followed by semis Fri and champ game Sunday. So everyone plays 2 games on 2 of the first 4 days
I heard tournament seeding was based on how badly everyone beats Ga State this year on the diamond . I feel pretty good about getting that #1 spot after our 23-1 victory tonight. :)

How'd the rest of the weekend go?

So on Tuesday-Fri everyone plays 2 of those 4 days. Format is good for pitching

Tiebreaker isn't mentioned, but last year it was that the higher seed advances, which makes sense as it rewards the regular season. Also, the two division winners potentially get a day off before the semifinals.

Highest seed

Correct. Normally head to head plays a role, but 3 team pods make it impossible for a two team tie to exist. The only possible tie is all 3 teams at 1-1, which goes to highest seed.

Essentially, all of Tuesday's games will be virtual elimination games. Losers of those games can not win the league tournament. They'll just play one more game and be gone. The winners Tuesday, will then play the highest seed in the group for the Group Championship.

The downside of the format is no matter what happens, after Tuesday only 4 games will be meaningful. If 4 West beats 6 East in round 1. That 6 East vs 1 East game the next day is meaningless no matter who wins, even with a loss the 1 seed still advances by just beating the 4 West team. If the 1 seed is already in the NCAA Tournament or has no chance of an at large, it could make for a crappy game.
