Seems Coastal will be playing in the CBI. Wonder if GaSt joins them.

Could Texas State play in the NIT since it is being hosted in Texas? They would have gone to it in a normal year anyway.
Actually surprised they are playing the alphabet tournaments.

CIT elected not to play, but the CBI went ahead. With no NIT auto bids this years, there's going to be more mid majors who deserve a tournament berth needing one.
Can you deserve a tournament, if you have to pay to play on it?

Truly, wish we wouldn’t... again.

It’s a nice reward for your team if you feel like the team has earned it. I feel like that if your team has been down for a couple years, but is turning it around and puts together 20 win season, your team may have earned it. It also gives your team an extra couple weeks of practice and tournament experience.
Updated the post headline to include South Alabama as it seems they're heading to the CBI as well.

Right now this is what I've been able to snoop online to see who MIGHT be going to the CBI

Army
Coastal
Longwood
Stetson
Bellarmine
Bryant
South Dakota State
Bowling Green State
South Alabama
Youngstown State
James Madison
Rhode Island
Prairie View A&M
Morgan State
Sam Houston State
TXST getting hosed again. Just like with the two bowl games.

Texas State definitely got hosed by COVID this year. Would have been in the NIT.

I hope TxSt and GaSt go to the CBI as well.
Glad to see South get a little post season time this season. Surprised GaSt and TxSt are not somewhere. Are the NCAA, NIT and CBI the only post season this year???

Still disappointed that the NIT didn’t take conference season winners first.

South was invited but declined

Wanna talk about getting hosed? Look at Belmont. They went 26-4 and got no bid.

It's possible that Texas State was invited to play in the CBI, but turned it down.

It’s also pretty likely that Billy Napier was invited to play in the CBI, but turned them down. I hear that’s a frequent thing for him.
With all due respect to teams that chose to accept the invite, no thanks on CBI I think, doesnt really bring any value for us.

Just reload next year and come back with a gear to grind. Half the roster is young but showed temendous growth, especially Thomas, Nsoseme, and Johnson. We knew they were talented guys while being recruited but havent had serious college game minutes until 2020.

Expect have 2 regular starters (phillips and Jones) back who were absent all season due to foot surgeries + return every starting 5 and all bench + 2 incoming HS kids making some buzz in talking circles.

Thomas and Nsoseme should be reliable backups/relief centers once 6'10 245lbs Jones returns as the primary big man. Phillips is the SG we sorely missed this year at times when Allen went cold (championship game being the perfect example)

CRL has the talent on his roster, the expectation is NCAA tourney or bust. He's not on the hot seat yet, but not making the tourney back to back will..
The CBI has actually helped teams push to better future years.

2018 - UNT CBI Champs - 2019-2020 Regular Season CUSA Champs / 2020-2021 CUSAT Champ
2016 - Nevada CBI CHamps - 2016-2017 - Regular Season MWC Champs and MWCT Champs / 2017-2018 Ranked and MWC Champs
2015 - Layola Chicago CBI Champs - Etc. etc. etc.

Gonna call Bellarmine as my pick. Coastal has a chance though.

The CBI is valuable game experience against decent opponents if you have a young team. I wish Troy could've gotten an invite to give all of our freshmen more experience.

Possibly. But I think the sentiment is that we're done and preparing for the next season.

Exactly. If we have to pay 50K and take the kids on a road trip vaca, just to reward/motivate them for next year... we aren’t on the right path anyway.
