Especially if there are bongos and some MJ.

Alright, alright, alright.
I lived about a little over two blocks from him when that happened. Came back from a night playing pool to a street full of cops.

All I knew about that house for the longest time is that *the* best looking women in the *the* best form fitting yoga attire *always* seemed to make that turn onto that street during their walks.

You were apparently neighbors with the author Lawrence Wright as well.

A very memorable part of his book "God Save Texas" is when he explains that encounter in Tarrytown, prior to Matthew McConaughey really hitting it big. He painted a similar scene to yours. Funny scene, to say the least.
Beta for Guv?

Includes this interesting tidbit:

Cruz’s seat is up in 2024, and O’Rourke could be contemplating another run for Senate. That race could feature Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Houston, since Cruz might run for president instead of reelection. In 2018 Cruz beat O’Rourke by 2.6 percentage points.
As Kinky Friedman famously put it, "How hard can it be?"
My Biden-voting nephew is a big fan of Crenshaw. But I cannot see Cruz getting any traction as a Presidential candidate. He is not in my top 5 for a race against President Harris.

Too hard for Beta?

Dallas Morning News poll on McConaughey vs. Abbott, although I have to say the headline is very misleading (he doesn't lead Abbott 45 to 33 percent because it's not even clear if he ran what party he'd be running as part of). 66 percent of Democrats say they'd vote for the actor, and 30 percent of the Republicans.

I think the more interesting part of this poll is the favorability vs un-favorability ratings for some prominent state politicians. Just using their own party's numbers, Greg Abbott remains the most popular politician. Here's the breakdown of the six people they ask about in the poll

Abbott (just listing Republicans opinions) -- 43 pct strongly approve, 33 pct approve so 76 percent total
Cruz -- 42 pct SA, 28 pct A -- 70 pct total
Beto O'Rourke (Dem response) -- 33 pct SA, 33 pct A -- 66 pct total
Cornyn -- 33 SA, 32 A -- 65 total
Dan Patrick -- 30 SA, 30 A -- 60 total
Ken Paxton -- 29 SA, 26 A -- 55 total

I'm surprised Cruz is that far ahead of Cornyn to be honest.

Of course, when it comes down to the binary vote, that usually goes to the least unfavorable, or the lesser evil.

Me neither, but I feel like it is inevitable. Cruz has been at the forefront of efforts to pass an amendment imposing term limits and I would actually be surprised if he runs for a third Senate term in 2024.
