To win it all: Furman

Tourney upset: Mercer over Wofford

One and done's: WCU, Samford, ETSU, VMI, Wofford
@greensboro
So the state of North Carolina is going to allow 15% to attend events and the SoCon has announced that 544 will be allowed to attend each session. Anybody out there have ant idea how that will be handled? I can’t fathom how myself.

Yes it seems that would mostly be family, friends of the players and coaches and staff. It will be interesting to hear what they say. Coach Shay on radio tonight so he may have some insight.

After that Jan.30 blowout of Citadel and rolling - Bucs go 2 - 8. Has coach offered any conversation with relation to this grand collapse?
Furman vs winner of UNCG/UTC. Part of me thinks UTC can win this tournament. Furman has been known to struggle in Asheville, but bottom side of the bracket is much easier.

To win it all: UNCG - Miller & Miller League's best coach and player (PG to boot)

Tourney upset: VMI over Furman

I think it is truly flip a coin right now as to who wins it. Bucs have a chance but have to elevate their game to compete. Hoping....

UTC has been one of the few teams this year that has shown it can string together wins. I actually have them vs Furman in the championship. But as '81 says, anyone could win this. Might be one of the more interesting SoCon tourneys in a while.
Anyone but Chattanooga and Wofford.
Think we (ETSU) will get about a 12 seed this year in the tourney, or with the usual SoCon disrespect, only be a 13 seed?

And yes...........I *am* kidding.03-drunk

SBNation projection for 2020:

Cleveland (Fri./Sun.)
6. Michigan vs. 11. ETSU (SoCon)
3. Louisville vs. 14. New Mexico State (WAC)
I dont know about the rest of you guys, but Im still behind ETSU to win this. We have proven our talent, all we need is hunger and smarts.....Go Bucs

Yes I agree completely. We have shown all year we have the players. But now is the time to show the other parts of the game and put it all together for three games.

3 years ago, on this board, as the Bucs closed out the season by losing the last 3 regular season games, ALL AT HOME.................we were discussing the 'fact' that one (or a team) can't just turn off and on the whatever it is "it factor" needed to win tough games. But.........we rallied, won the first two games in Asheville, and then were *not at all* ready for UNC-G in the finals. The bill came due.

This season most closely resembles that one in the ways of momentum, altho certainly differs in other ways. I personally can't see this team pulling together to win 3 in a row. Do they have the talent? Of course. But the cohesiveness, chemistry, discipline, and sense of unyielding purpose as a TEAM I don't recognize. Nor will the sea of Blue & Gold that helps propel the team in Asheville be available. That said................with even more intangibles than usual floating around, who knows? My rational self wants to say "no way we can even win 2"; but stranger things have happened. [See: Patrick Good vs. WCU in last year's home finale.]

We've often said in years past stuff like "this year it's wide open", when in reality there were only about 4-5 (max) true possibilities. This year it REALLY IS wide open. I truly could see any team other than El Cid or Samford winning it all - and I actually hesitate to count them out, to be truthful. It's that crazy.
But........unfortunately........the ghost of bartow past, and it's "3 days in March" plaintive, eulogy-esque lament, will likely rule the weekend. Otherwise, the two UTC losses will be somewhat less Shakespearean - and we can't have that, can we? 05-sosad03-no
I'm taking the BUCS to win the tourney.

No I'm not looking through Blue/Gold glasses.
Bucs have one, if not best D in league, have the deepest roster ( an advantage having to play 3 days in a row ), have multiple players that can score at all levels and they beat every team in league except Chatt, who had the luxury of two exceptional, last second situations go their way that snatched victory from defeat.

GO BUCS

Love it. Might as well be optimistic!
The former doc poster is always insightful and has compared this years team to our team two years ago. While I remember it well, this years team is different in many ways. So we shall see shortly some of the differences. When we play well we are unbeatable. Whether our heads are in sync or not will be the outcome...Go Bucs Go
League is very balanced. UNCG, Wofford, Furman, ETSU, Chatt can all win it. VMI and Mercer capable of getting to the finals. Should be wide open.
My pick is ETSU over Furman in the finals.
I watched us lose to Chattanooga twice. And from what I’ve seen lately, we can’t finish a game. All that said, I really want the bucs to win it all. But if I had money on it, I would bet they will lose either in the quarterfinals or semifinals.

I’d say Greensboro or Western Carolina are the teams to beat right now.
