Well this is a topic with some pretty heavy religious overtones, yet its politcal as well.

I wonder what I am allowed to say or not say on this one? (no that is not a shot at any mods, its a serious thought exercise for me personally)

Its totally impossible for me to separate BIG things like this happening in the world today from the Bible.

The connections are rather obvious.

Eric, too many times I've extrapolated how binary code symbolizes/epitomizes the supposed mark o' beast....that's almost pure acceptance across any genre...

Religious needs to be moved

Start a religious thread in the Spin Room or one intended to taunt the religious and it will be moved to the Buckley - Vidal No Spin Sub forum and moderated accordingly which means no taunts, no trolling, etc.

It will too bad so sad if some of you jerks get banned for trying to skirt the new rules. So if you attempt this again there won't be a warning.

I concur. Current events are not a religious thread per se unless they are concerning the last actions of the Southern Baptist Convention or the Pope.

I do NOT think this is the mark of the devil. It doesn't meet the description of being on the hand or forehead (as I recall).

I don't think most people are saying the vax is THE MARK, its just an obvious forerunner to get people ready for it.

"You have to have X if you are going to be a part of society anymore."

It a way of normalizing and mainstreaming that type of "restriction".

Where do we find out more about the Mark of the Devil?

The book of Revelation, chapter 13.

Its mentioned in a few other chapters but that is the main one.

Revelation 16 gives a list of terrible plagues that will fall on all who have the mark in the 2nd half of the tribulation.

I am troubled by multiple things. Number one this thread bing moved feels like censorship and bigotry. It is a current event. I am Christian so I do wonder if this is what the Bible mentions as the sign of devil although I was really being tongue in cheek. I will avoid this sort of title in the future though.

The thread wasn't moved because of the OP. The thread was move because of what some posters tried to make of it, intentionally, because of the new policy. But to be fair moderation wouldn't be necessary if jackasses didn't run over, derail and turn most threads into something other than the OP intended. But in this case as in Casablanca round up the usual suspects.

And Stink is correct that the topic is worthy but the thread title under the current circumstances was just begging for trouble.

But Religion and Politics are going to be sorted. Because of the violation of one particular group that has adopted an anti religious freedom stance in violation of the Constitutional protection of religious freedom the very topic has become so politically charged that is impacting every forum on this site and not just the Spin Room.

Threads everywhere turn into Atheists vs beliefs of whichever denomination is involved and then we get arguments between the religious on polity and doctrine of respective religious affiliations on top of the atheist thing. It is obnoxious, kills discussion, makes threads unreadable to the main people who pay the bills here, the lurkers and readers which outnumber the posters 10 to 1.

Most of moderation is in keeping the boards readable enough to keep outside traffic reading what you guys write.

In some ways you might say that I don't just kill trolls. Intelligent trolls are productive for the site and for the readers. It's the moronic tedious trolls that kill traffic.

And most posters come here for sports information, news about recruits, rumors, inside scoop if it even exists, etc. It is an escape from politics and most see religion as a personal matter that should never be under assault. So when they run into Atheist vs Religion they tune out.

If somebody wants to read the political banter we offer the Spin Room but keep it out of all other forums. If somebody wants to discuss religion they now have a place to do it. But, if people discuss religion in a political forum it only invites the God haters and the atheists, and there is a difference, to attack.

So we are going to try having political discussions that don't devolve into pro God anti God discussions, and religious discussions that are civil and actually encourage posters to listen to differing viewpoints without letting the anti-God trolls in.

As with all things in life when you abuse freedoms you lose them and if it doesn't pay the bills you don't have time for it. Everyone needs to remember that this site stays free as long as there are enough interested readers of it on the internet to pay our bills via advertising.

So this is an attempt to keep threads on all forums, not just the Spin Room, readable. And it is an attempt to give those who do want to discuss religion a place to do so without it turning into constant trolling. This gives everyone a place to talk without ruining the basic traffic of sports readers wanting to escape the real world. If they want real world they have the Spin Room and if they are the smaller subset of people who want to talk religion in the real world they have the Buckley Vidal Sub Forum.

We should all take a cue from the NBA and NFL. If you want to lose business mix politics into the public's favorite escapes.

Personally I don't care if a bunch of a-holes looking for a verbal fight are just SOL. I don't call jackassery a personal protected right. It's usually an anarchist just trying to piss of the world and to me those guys are just taking up space and using air.
