A lot of action this weekend...

* Mackenzie Hughes is in the WGC Workday Event. WGC events pay well and don't usually have cuts, so it is a chance for Hughes to play against the best of the world in preparation for the Masters.

* Taylor Pendrith and Ian Holt are playing in the PGA Tour's Puerto Rico Open. This is a secondary event, but still a PGA event with a very good payout ($3M purse). For Pendrith, this is a reward for his great 2020 season on the Korn Ferry Tour as he will likely earn his PGA card at the end of this year's Korn Ferry season. For Holt, he was granted a sponsor's exemption and will play in his first ever PGA tournament. At the moment, Pendrith is tied for second after completing the first round and Holt is tied for 82nd after 14 holes.
Mackenzie Hughes never really got clicking over the weekend and ended up tied for 44th in the WGC event.

Despite a very strong first round, Taylor Pendrith played fairly mediocre golf the last three rounds and will finish tied for 53rd. That said, it is a PGA Tour event, so he'll make some decent cash ($7000ish) which can go a long way for a Korn Ferry Tour player.

Ian Holt missed the cut in his first PGA Tournament by one stroke.
Go Flashes!
Corey Connors with a sweet 6-under first round at the Arnold Palmer and is tied for the lead with Rory McIlroy. He missed a 6-footer for par on his last hole than would have given him the solo lead. He said afterwards that this course suits his game. He ran in a bunch of lengthy putts.
Corey out early with a 3-under 69 to move to -9 and a two shot lead with the pm group just getting out.
Conners played solid, but not great golf today, finishing one under and tied for second one stroke behind the leader.
The course was obviously playing rough today as there were very few golfers at or under par, but Conners made it exciting with an eagle on 16 to draw within one of the lead. A bogey on 17 pretty much sealed his fate though and he ended up in a solo 3rd, which still results in a very nice paycheck ($600K+) and lots of Fed Ex points.
Shot 74 today solo 3rd. moved to 24th in Fed Ex Cup, solid week big payday
With everyone up in arms about the basketball results, we failed to notice Corey Conners is in T3rd place at The Players after round 1.
If you get a chance, check out Conners making an eagle on a par 4 by sinking a 153 yard shot here

Yes CC playing well now - hopefully he can get a win one of these weeks. Do you know if he's playing the Master's. MH struggling as of now but finished strong last season.
Hughes and Conners are both qualified for the Masters. I think Hughes qualified based on the Top 30 finish in the Fed Ex standings last year and Conners based on the Top 12 finish in last year's masters.

Thanks for the update
Corey Conners rolling! He’s 6-under today, 10-under for the tournament now tied for 2nd, two shots back of Lee Westwood whose wheels are coming off.
Conners let the entire field off the hook on his last 4-5 holes. Had a chance to post a LOW number and will now likely have to settle for a top 5 finish.
Or a 7th place finish.
Great day for Corey—the low round of the day on a tough course, a big chunk of FedEx points, and a sweet payday. Two fine weeks in a row.
I think that is Conners fifth Top 10 finish in this season. I feel like there is a win in the cards for him this season. He seems like he is really playing great golf week in and week out.

> $1.1m in the last 2 weeks.
A few things:

* Conners and Hughes played in the WGC Match Play. Conners never got it going and didn't advanced, but Hughes did, losing to Sergio Garcia in the knockout phase. Hughes will finish T9.

* Pendrith is playing in his third PGA tournament this year and made his third cut. He is tied for 47th, but it is still good as he is getting used to playing against the better competition as he will undoubtably earn his PGA card from the Korn Ferry Tournament this year.
