Quote:In late November, at a meeting of Washington Democrat Governor Jay Inslee’s Equity Task Force, an administrator, who was recently named the director of the state Office of Equity, said that “white people and Europeans” had an unhealthy focus on punctuality. After the task force member made the comment, another member echoed that “the office of equity should model practices and decolonize boards by identifying, dismantling, culture-bound rules and decorum, time-requirement, education, and what we call ‘expertise.’”

Dr. Karen Johnson, who was serving as equity and inclusion administrator for the Washington State Department of Corrections in November, said at the November 25 meeting discussing “Removing health disparities by race/ethnicity/gender”:

Most white people and Europeans are about agenda and to-do lists and tasks and “Oh we have thirty minutes for this” and “Oh, time to move on,” where people of color, maybe it matters, maybe it doesn’t. In South Africa, if we were meeting right here, 2:35, if Craig Bill (Director of the Governor’s Office of Indian Affairs) walked in right now in South Africa, what would happen is they would stop, welcome him, “How was your weekend? You have any plans for Thanksgiving?” and would bring him up to speed on what he missed — if we were in South Africa. If Craig Bill walked in right now in Tumwater, Washington, we’d say “Hello” and maybe somebody would — well, our chairs are gracious, so you won’t — would let him know “well, here we are,” but it’s basically, “This is where we are; just get with it.”

One member of the committee, asked, “I do want to ask for clarity; we are still going to move forward with the idea of an advisory board. Is that true, committee? Okay. I just want to double-check cause I think that’s really important.”

Another submitted, “Can we move on?”

Co-Chair Benjamin Danielson remarked, “This sounds so much like what Dr. Johnson is talking about just a minute ago; about ‘through this work the office of equity should model practices and decolonize boards by identifying, dismantling, culture-bound rules and decorum, time-requirement, education, and what we call ‘expertise.’” He mouthed, “Thank you.”

Political commentator James Lindsay noted, “When I say that the goal of Critical Race Theory is to move the United States in the direction of South Africa, I mean that literally. It’s an aspirational goal. Here’s receipts from Inslee’s Equity Task Force in Washington last year.”

After Johnson was named the director of the state Office of Equity last Thursday, Washington State Senator Manka Dhingra said, “The Office of Equity Task Force benefitted tremendously from the great experience and strong moral force that Dr. Johnson brought to the table. As director of the Office of Equity, she will be a strong and inspirational champion for creating a future that we want our children to live in.”

Inslee added, “Karen brings extensive experience working to transform local and state government systems to more equitably serve Washingtonians. She has oriented her entire career around helping disadvantaged communities and instituting lasting systemic and institutional change for generations to come. I have every confidence that she will be an excellent, effective director.”

Another one of Dimslee's picks. She sounds really foolish in the video. Guess she has worked in government too long - she thinks things don't need a schedule, nothing needs to be done on time, money is no object. Well lady, SOME people have integrity and when they say something is going to be done at a certain time - it will be.
What a freakin' idiot spouting lies.
FFS, punctuality is a cultural thing, not a race thing. Drives me nuts when I go to SA, plan to go out, and everyone shows up a hour or two late. To them, it's all good and normal, but drives me nuts. I never once thought race played any part. It's just cultural. I guess now EVERYTHING some people don't l ike will be due to race. It's stupid and nauseating.
Literally, many blacks I know don't care to be punctual and jokingly reference the fact they "run on C.P.T." (colored people time).

I've been to race and culture meetings where whitey is told that dinging black interview applicants for not being punctual is part of of cultural bias.

Crazy stuff.

LOL... I was on a conference call this morning that started at 9:30 AM CST. The host and I were the first two on and we asked how each other was doing after last week's winter storm lockdown.

Others joined and they jumped in.

We've actually recently come up with some standards that call business should start 5 mins after call start time and should end 10 minutes prior to end time.

I just thought it was a Southern thing.

Oh, and we have a saying down here: "I don't care how you do it up north."

This. It’s definitely a cultural thing. My Russian friend is always way late, and he just jokes and calls it Russian time when we give him a hard time about it.
Being habitually late is rude AF, I don't care what kind of "time" you call it.
Am I alone in hearing in this "colored folks can't be on time because they aren't capable?"

This is paternalism disguised as anti-racist policy.

It is also manners and respecting others.
That's fine with me. If I set a meeting and you don't "feel like" showing up on time - you are fired. I don't care what you look like or assimilate to....

Waste my time and money, I will find someone in your place who will not do that.

Try to sue me for it.....

Racissss
So we want to be like South Africa? Is that really aspirational?

You are not supposed to name colors anymore - that is raysyst too.

The proper phrase is:

I don't care who you are - you are fired (or not hired)

That's very close to what I'm hearing. The other part I hear is "I don't care, my time is more important than your time".

GTFOOH with that ish.
I have no problem with people who don't want to follow the most basic rules (like being on time). But if you choose to live your life that way you only have yourself to blame if you are poor and unemployed. that's a you problem.

I will hire anyone if you can do the job and do it on time. Plenty of people on earth who can do both of those things.

I don't tend to impose my interpretation of "manners and respecting others" on people from other cultures, especially if I'm the guest in their culture. Now, it goes without saying that there are limits, like if it was someone's culture is to walk up and slap me in the face, I'd have an issue with that. For stuff like meeting times, I've learned to accept it and go along. I work around it. If I want to actually meet people at 10 I'll tell them to meet up at 8. 02-13-banana

lol, my roommate in grad school was Russian and yes, there is definitely a "Russian time". I didn't think that was too bad until I went to South America. That's a whole different level.

Nope, that's exactly what's being said by these idiots.

It's not much different than Biden saying some races aren't capable of using the internet. If I was a minority targeted by either of these statements I'd be pretty insulted that so many people seem to think my race says I can't be smart enough to get online or show up on time.

No kidding!

I think those lunatics up there should go all in though, I’m thinking they should mandate all public transit to never be on time, but to show up whenever.

From planes to buses to trains - accommodate the minorities by showing up either late or early, but never on time. If the bus is supposed to show up at 9:10, some days show up at 9:05 and leave......or show up next day at 9:30.

Let’s see how everyone up there likes them all showing up when they feel like it.
