Is anyone watching the spring football season? It just started up with some FCS games.

One game worth noting from this weekend: Tarleton State trounces New Mexico State. Tarleton just made the move from DII to FCS this season. In their first game, they lost to McNeese 40-37. In their second game, they beat up on FBS opponent NMSU, 43-17, which was a home game for the Aggies. Tarleton was even missing 5 starters due to Covid contact tracing. Tarleton outgained NMSU 501 to 241 and NMSU's only scores came on a 1st quarter kickoff return, a 3rd quarter FG and a passing TD with 3 mins left in the game. It was 33-7 at halftime.

An embarrassing loss, to say the least. I know we complain about Lester and KB and company a lot around here, but what do you even say if you're a NMSU fan right now? Granted, I know athletic programs in New Mexico have had a rough go of things. They haven't even been able to practice in the state until about a month ago.
I forgot all about that.

I'm glad the MAC jumped back in during Fall, even in a late, truncated season, instead of waiting until Spring. It's hard to know without peeking into a parallel universe how that would look. But COVID restrictions are still in fully in place, the weather has been terrible the past couple weeks (November was actually decent), and I don't think we would've garnered much additional #MACtion attention even though we'd be the only FBS conference on the tube.

By the looks of our basketball season, there'd likely still have been football game cancellations and postponements.

Wondering what Fall 2021 will look like. It's such a wildcard as so much depends on speed of vaccine rollouts vs. any more hidden variants to screw things up this summer. My hunch is every conference will start on time, with limited capacity up to ~25% (maybe 50% if things are looking good) in the northern and western school stadiums and probably close to anything-goes in the SEC, CUSA type of conferences.
Old enough to remember when people said spring football wouldn't work and it was too dangerous for the athletes.
Tarleton St......I don't think I've ever heard of them. Are they new to FCS?

Glad we played in the fall. In retrospect, doesn't seem like there'd have been a point in delaying it.

I agree Motown of your assessment of what a fall season will look like. I don't see a bunch changing anytime soon.

Yes, jumped from D2 to FCS. Alex Thole, QB from Schoolcraft signed with them earlier this month.
Wow. Southern Illinois ends North Dakota State's 39-game win streak after beating the Bison 38-14.
