Howell draws a 5-pitch walk! Bases loaded. The winning run is now 90 feet away with 1 out!
With a 3-2 count, Chris Thorburn takes a pitch well off the plate and the Hawks win 5-4!

Great start to the season!
Hell yeah what a rally! Shades of 2006 right there
Walk off walk! 02-13-banana
Walk it off boys, WALK IT OFF!
Is the mono blue uniform new? I don't remember seeing that before. I want a mono teal uniform!
We ended last season in walkoff style. It's only appropriate that we win our first game of the 2021 season in the bottom of the 9th as well. This time in a comeback.
Game time sunday 1 and may have double header. Looking at rain monday

Great job by the pitching staff. Hawk hurlers struck out 9 & walked 0. vcu staff might have struck out 15 but they walked 8 men. Oh those base on balls will kill you!

Hawks up 4-1 in the 4th. Another great offensive day, where their starter is up to 57 pitches thrown already. Baldwin led off the bottom of the 1st with a HR. Brandenburg contributed an RBI triple in the 3rd as well.

Gesell pitching well and limited the damage in the 3rd, when VCU got an RBI triple.
The Hawks have knocked the VCU starter out after just 3.2 innings. Now the Rams bullpen has a lot of work to do to finish this game, plus has the 2nd game of the doubleheader to worry about.
4-1 still, 7th inning.
Bottom of the 8th - Hawks still on top 4 - 1.

2 straight games where Seahawk pitchers didn't walk a single VCU hitter. 8 K's, 0 walks today. In total, 17 K's, 0 walks in the series so far.

Meanwhile, Seahawk hitters drew 6 more walks today. 14 total walks so far.
Freshman righty, Ethan Chenault, gets the ball for game 3 of the series. According to Coach Scalf and multiple scouts, he is going to be a 1st round draft pick. He already has a mid-90s fastball.

If I am not mistaken, he is eligible this June as a draft-eligible sophomore.
Oh - one other thing -today's unis. White tops & bottoms in the first game. Much better look than all blue like yesterday. IMHO
2nd game - blue tops with white pants. Still much better than yesterday.

Underway in game 2 of the doubleheader and final game of the series. Chenault's fastball is as lively as advertised.
A seeing eye single and the first walk of the weekend surrendered by Seahawk pitching and VCU has 2 on, 1 out against Chenault.
Weak contact on back to back pitches for VCU, one a fly out to shallow left and the other an infield pop-up, and Chenault gets out of the jam. He showed much better command after a mound visit. Well done by our coaches and by the young gun.

No score, bottom 1st.
