Just a heads up. We got ourselves a matinee.

What do you assess as NIU's chances to win this game?

I consulted my bookie, and he said that the Huskies chances are 0.0000000001%
Excite for a normal (hopefully), full basketball and football season this coming year. Both teams will be improved (statistically hard not to be).
I know it is way too early to start thinking of an upset,
But they are up by 11 with 7 mins to go in first half.
Akron coming back mostly because of their defense
I can't believe they gave Cochran a f'n T on that.
Halftime - NIU 45 - Akron 41
Kueth has been on fire and Cochran is so hard to contain.

And Thornton is one of the slickest passers I've seen for NIU in some time.

Funny, I thought it was because of their refs.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!

I have no idea how you can evaluate that, when you have absolutely no idea what was said......I suspect it was well earned. But, it wasn’t goaltending. The ball was still going up.

Really good half for the Huskies. They played very well, but, not sure a four point lead will hold up.
Btw, any word on why Beane isn't playing?
2nd half is a bit of a foul fest (for both teams).
Hankerson can't shoot anymore for some reason.
This second half has been a real struggle......and ugly.
Lost 81-76.

Were in it until the end.

Good game.
6’ 2” Cochran led both teams with 13 rebounds.
Almost took Akron minus the points. Glad I didn't

He's a beast.

He's the MAC version of Charles Barkley.
Being completely honestly here, I enjoy this team.

I know they aren't any good, but I like most of the players (ahem....Anthony Crump....ahem...)

I think with Montgomery now gone I can just watch them and not think about what next year brings or if there'll be a next year or just what in the hell is going on. And I backed Monty for much longer than most here but a couple years ago, I was ready to move on from him.

But, this team hustles (they did for Monty too) and they're scrappy. They can kind of shoot sometimes and when they do, it's fun to watch. And, honestly, there's something about Anthony Crump. He's terrible but he never stops doing spin moves and terrible passes (he had another one today) like he thinks...this is gonna work!...every time he does it.

I guess there's something endearing about him. As bad as he is.

I remember, vividly, the last couple of Patton teams and I remember, vividly, hating those teams. They were unlikable and unwatchable.

This group is quite likable and I enjoy watching them. I love watching Tyler Cochran out-rebound guys 6 inches taller than him and, even more so, I love it when an opponent brings down a rebound and he strips the ball from them and takes off with it the other direction.

I love how Kaleb Thornton passes the ball. Seriously, one of the slickest passers I've ever seen at NIU.

I love how Kingsley Okanu works his ass off on every possession. And Makoui had a couple of really nice inside moves today.

And, for whatever reason, Zool Kueth is finally doing things that I saw him do on his scouting videos.

IMO, Hankerson and Beane have struggled but they've both had some good moments. It's just neither of them should be the center pieces of a D-1 offense. It's not their fault. They were stuck with it. And they try to make things happen they shouldn't be trying to make happen.

Add it all up and it's still not good but, I'll be damned if I don't enjoy watching them play.
