Quote:Vice President Kamala Harris seemingly contradicted Dr. Anthony Fauci’s positive assessment of former President Donald Trump‘s administration’s vaccine plan Sunday night.

Harris, in an interview with Axios, said that President Joe Biden’s administration did not inherit a vaccine plan from Trump. “There was no national strategy or plan for [COVID-19] vaccinations,” she said, adding: “We’re starting from scratch.”

Fauci had used virtually the exact phrase in a White House press briefing last month — “we certainly are not starting from scratch.” Axios deleted a social media post pointing out the apparent contradiction, reposting the clip of Harris without the Fauci comparison — and without explanation.

PolitiFact has rated Harris’s claim as “mostly false.”

The contradiction comes at a time when the Biden administration is under pressure to ramp up the rate of vaccinations as the pandemic persists. The pressure places Harris in a situation where she is willing to contradict the nation’s highest-paid federal employee and scientific adviser to the administration, Fauci, in order to reduce the administration’s political exposure.

Fauci has served presidents of both parties going back decades, and Biden decided to keep him on after succeeding Trump as president.

Since Biden’s inauguration, reports of logistical bottlenecks have surfaced in several states’ vaccination efforts.

Then how did this happen?

Quote:Over 52 million coronavirus vaccines have been administered in the U.S. since the rollout of vaccinations began, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

According to February 14 CDC data, 70,057,800 doses of the vaccines have been delivered in the U.S. Of those, 52,884,356 million have been administered across the country, although a state-by-state tally, as noted by Bloomberg, shows the U.S. nearing 54 million doses administered.

Of the over 52 million doses administered in the U.S., more than 8.1 million have been administered in California, over 4.1 million in Texas, over 3.4 million in Florida, and over 2.9 million in New York state.

According to the CDC, 14,077,440 individuals nationwide have received two doses of the vaccine.

While states continue to prioritize high-risk populations and healthcare workers, Dr. Anthony Fauci, President Biden’s chief adviser on the coronavirus, predicted that it will be “open season” for vaccinations come April.

“As we get into March and April, the number of available doses will allow for much more of a mass vaccination approach,” he said during an appearance on the Today show last week.

“I would imagine by the time we get to April, that will be what I would call, for better wording, ‘open season,’” he continued. “Namely, virtually everybody and anybody in any category could start to get vaccinated.”

Fauci has said that the U.S. needs to have 70-85 percent of the population vaccinated in order to reach a level of pre-pandemic normalcy, although he has continued to warn that the U.S. cannot pull back on public health measures yet, particularly due to the virus variants.

“The only way a virus mutates (is) if it can replicate. So if you vaccinate people and double down on public health measures and keep the level of viral dynamics low we will not have an easy evolution into mutations,” he told CNN. “That’s something that people really need to understand.”

“The way you stop those mutations: Get vaccinated and abide by the public health measures,” he added.

According to Bloomberg’s analysis, over 173 million coronavirus shots have been administered worldwide.

the average person walking up to our Pharmacy window is like 60-80 at Sam's...last thing I want to do is get someone's granny sick just because she wants her BP meds or something. Esp now that we have Techs giving the immunizations.
Does anyone really think that Kammi the commie would say anything positive about Trump... about anything?
The flu-like symptoms with the 2nd dose have been well noted. Interestingly, the symptoms haven't manifested as strongly in senior citizens (75+). The Fauci Ouchey lasts for about a day, maybe a day and a half for most.
Might want to check the CDC site concerning vaccine reactions rather than parrot CNN. It's not pretty.

yep, it was gone by the next day. Glad I did it on a Friday though.
My wife gets her 2nd one this weekend. She and I have had a couple of small arguments over my refusal to take the shot. Her employer (medical office) required her to do it, but she said she'd probably have gotten one anyway. 98% survival rate -- I'll take my chances and pass on it, same as I have done with the flu shot every year of my life.

It wasn't the survival rate, it was the hospitalization rate for me. You can survive and end up with a $100k+ hospital bill like my cousin.
