I honestly believe our AD is a bit out of touch with reality.
Is this a good thing or bad thing from UTEP people. Terry looked like a decent hire. He did go from 8 to 17 wins from year 1 to year 2.

Fans are fed up with coach Terry and are stunned that this 1 year extension happened when most of us thought he should be fired at the end of this season. He has a losing record vs div 1 teams and it shouldn't take more than 3 years to build a winning basketball team. Very poorly coached team. If fans are allowed to attend games next season the Don will still be a ghost town.. Fans are seriously pi$$ed and want the AD that did this gone as well.

Seems justified. Miners have solid players on their squad, watching them fall apart in the last 6 minutes of both games vs. UAB last week was odd. Definitely appeared to be a coaching issue.
At least it’s only a year. Sanchez has gotten two and is now under contract until 2026.

They were gassed. I guess that’s a coaches issue in training - unless he’s short-handed - but it wasn’t a scheme issue.

Why? Seems like a good trade-off to me.

- Terry gives up 200K now, in exchange for a one-year contract extension.

- Dimal only gives up 71K now, but gets no contract extension.

Seems very fair to me. Football ain't there yet. You beat winless ULM and two FCS schools. I know, because I was pulling for ya'll this past season. I think UTEP has gotta win at least one or 2 CUSA games before you can claim any progress in the football program.

Basketball seems very competitive. UTEP won splits against 4 CUSA opponents this season; LA Tech, Southern Miss, UTSA and Rice. The Miners also had an impressive OOC win over Arizona St. And ya played Arizona tough, losing 69-61.

I think your AD got this one right.
I’ll address some of the comments I saw on here.

In the three years since Floyd quit after an 0-5 start we are in the same position. Every season under Terry we are struggling for a conference tournament championship spot. Missed in his first year, had to beat up on bottom pod to sneak in year 2 and things look shaky for year 3.

At UTEP we want to compete for a top four finish not be in life and death fights to stay out of the bottom four.

Take away non D1 wins and his record is...

6-24, 14-15, 5-10. That’s three straight losing seasons unless we win out. Highly unlikely

His best conference win is vs LT a few weeks ago. First time he beat a conference team with a winning record.

Now about the money. Unless I’m wrong I believe he is the highest paid coach in the conference. All of us would rather he take a 10% pay cut this year than give him a 6th year at 730k. The math works out better that way.
Are you guys sure Bob Stull is still not running the AD office? That move is very Stull like.
