Props to Reese for interviewing Jadin. This was a good read on what pushed Jadin to become a Monarch and what he expects to do here.

JJ NEEDS ALL THE HELP HE CAN GET! NOW WILL JADIN PLAY AS A FRESHMAN?

Again, same line different day. Would his playing a freshman actually make you feel any better? How about JJ plays both current freshmen in the next couple of games. If they play 5 minutes, 10 minutes, heck 30 minutes...would that help your evaluation? If they actually showcased that they are not the current best players on the team, and potential liabilities in trying to actually win basketball games, should the coaches just focus on kids just getting playing time just because? or actually putting in the best players/matchups to give the best chance of winning games?
He can play the whole team and it would not matter! We simply don't have the talent or size to compete at this level. We are boys among men! We are a team of guards and when we go up against any team with size we can't hold our own. We need a coach that can recruit. JJ fails miserably.

I don’t know about that. Our inside game with Ezipke, Trice and Reece Isn’t that bad. We won because of that in the first game. The biggest issue is our guys just can’t shoot. Something about Jeff‘s methods just drains shooting ability out of players.

It's this. If we had 1 guy that could even begin to think about being a good shooter, this team would look so much better. The fact of the matter is while we do have an inside game, this team flat out cannot shoot the basketball.

The Problem is JJ and staff can't recruit freshmen to start and play. Case in point Marshall stated a big freshman who played well and scored in the double figures/rebounds. I forget JJ basically only recruits guards, no bigs to start. It is what it is. MEDICORE AT BEST, AS JJ AND WOOD STAY AT ODU No three point shooters that are consistent. Trice is ODU's best big man and he is a post grad senior.
Split this from the recruiting thread. This is the second time I’ve had to do that in the recruiting thread in the past 7 days. Please stop messing up the recruiting thread.

I thought it was already established that Jones has had at least one freshman that started regularly. But the bigger question is, is it important that a mid major start a freshman? I don’t think it’s important just because Marshall did it.

And Trice has been playing very well, but you don’t think Ezikpe is the better big man?
Can you at least grow up and not refer to yourself in the 3rd person?

I think it could be that he is saying Marshall has recruited better and therefore has a Freshman good enough to start. Louisiana Tech also has a good Freshman - Kenneth Lofton - that is big man starting for them. He is doing very well.

Maybe he is and good for Marshall and LT. But I don’t think freshmen starting for a mid major is the norm. Most are developed and contribute more as upperclassmen. If you have freshmen starting it could mean that you have phenoms or it could mean you don’t have skilled upperclassmen.
It may not be the norm, but it is exactly what seperates the upper crust from the rest. Marshalls freshman big Chilli is gonna be a real stud. We should hope to recruit so well.

Are we implying that Marshall has been better than us that we would hope to recruit as well as them?

Trice, the best big man, is gone after this season.

Just saying, what a high % of fans are thinking. If we get a new young coach, you will not hear from me, regardless how he or she does. Maybe ODU has reached it's highest level, especially in the weak C-USA, where travel means money.

My point was that it is NOT exactly what separates the upper crust from the rest. The blue bloods play a lot of freshmen because a lot of their players don't stay around for 4 years. For mid majors, if you are recruiting well then you have upperclassmen that did not play much their freshman year but developed into starters. Except for the occasional phenom the rest of the freshman will be doing much of the same. If you haven't recruited well or developed those freshmen into productive upperclassmen, then you are forced to play freshmen. I'm not suggesting that is the case with Marshall or LT. Just that it is not an indicator that you are recruiting well.
