They're both at the bottom of their respective conferences. Should they move useful players and horde draft capital?

I'm guessing you're talking NBA and not NFL. Here in Memphis 'the process' has worked out pretty well. Our front office has drafted very shrewdly. The returns we got from the Mike Conley and Mark Gasol trades were outstanding. We have all our upcoming 1st round picks plus a Jazz 1st and a Warriors 1st in the next few years. We picked up the Warriors pick when they dumped Andre Iguodala and his salary. The Grizzlies were way ahead of schedule and firmly in the playoffs last season when Covid hit. This year Covid is disrupting everybody's roster. As for Detroit it's crazy to be that bad and paying an injury prone Blake Griffin a huge portion of your salary cap. Not sure anybody wants him. In Minnesota Karl Anthony Towns is right in his prime but the T'Wolves always seem to suck. Not sure why. Could be that owner, Glen Taylor, is constantly flirting with selling the team. Having that issue around would sure mess up your stability.

Ah, the OP is referencing the NBA. LOL. I don't follow that league anymore. My mind is still stuck in NFL mode when it comes to discussing draft capital. Carry on...

The T-Wolves should be moved to Seattle, but probably won't be.

Maybe after KAT finally decides to leave, they'll do a Sixers- or Astros-style tank job.

I always felt Sacramento was the team that should move bring the Sonics back. Are things that bad for the Wolves in MSP?

Stern was commissioner when the Kings were sold. He wanted to continue to punish Seattle for not building a new arena with public money when the Sonics were there. So the Kings stayed in Sacramento. Their new arena is very nice.

The Wolves' owner has been trying to sell for a few years, but wants to sell only to a buyer who would commit to keeping the team in Minnesota, and he has found no takers.

The obstacles to relocating the Wolves are first that someone has to step forward with more than $1.5 billion and convince the Wolves owner to take it, and second that they would have to be assured of the NBA approving the relocation. If the NBA is thinking of expansion in the next 5 years or so, they may want to "force" any potential owners in Seattle or anywhere else to pay a king's ransom for an expansion team instead of relocating the Wolves.
