Sunbelt is over for every holiday, you have grown up alongside her since you were both babies, you go to church with her family every sunday and the two of you have attended the same school with 50 people in your graduating class since kindergarten.

I dunno.
We were members of the Sun Belt for 9 or 10 years. They are more like our siblings as well.

03-shhhh

Yes. But comparing that SB to the current one is like comparing current CUSA to the one that had Louisville, Cincinnati and Memphis.

CUSA 2020 is Sunbelt 1985 (sans the Texas Schools).

I seem to recall USF and VCU being in it with us too.

Yep, with Jacksonville and South Alabama.
I watched Richmond vs VCU the other night on actual tv.
It just reinforced my thoughts that we should be in the A10.

ODU will be on actual TV this weekend. If you count WTVZ 33-2 as actual TV.

Amen to the A10. That should be a T-shirt. "ODU to the A10. Amen."

Stadium currently projects two CUSA teams in the tournament. UNT and WKU. I would have thought Marshall over WKU since they have the higher NET, but if we get two in, I'll be happy no matter who.

The NET is weird. WKU definitely has the better resume in quality wins but also has a few bad losses. They will have to finish real strong to have a chance at an at large IMO.

You know I really like the indy/a10 route, but I would also like the east of cusa just splitting and adding liberty. The west could add new Mexico state. Only 8 teams, could add jmu,if they wanted up to make 8 game schedule. Less money to split, less footprint. I like this idea too
ODU, Charlotte, Marshall, Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, Liberty, Florida International, Florida Atlantic, James Madison There you have it. Decent basketball, really good football. Also room to add if really good schools become available. Thoughts???

It’s definitely better, but I still prefer the A10. The list above is too weak in hoops. But IF it could gain a auto bid and CFP money I’d be OK with it. The odds of the NCAA giving out another auto bid, and creating a “G6” seem unlikely.

That's the problem, I think if CUSA could split and get the autobid they would have by now. Probably bring UAB to the east as and fill in. Not the A10 in hoops but not terrible and would have a football home. Seems like there's too many hurdles. I'm definitely on the A10 & Indy train if we can get an invite.
Why do so many leave out UAB but keep WKU and Middle Tenn in their conference realignment? You can drive from Norfolk to UAB in under 11 hours compared to WKY and Middle Tenn around 12 hours. I'm sure WKY and Middle Tenn would rather travel 3 to 4 hours to UAB down I65.

The perfect conference I'd pick:
ODU
UAB
WKU
Middle Tenn
Marshall
Charlotte
App St
GAST
GA Southern
Coastal Carolina
and if you want ECU, Liberty, and JMU.
Half a day drive to the farthest schools.

If AAC teams are off the table that's about as good of an FBS conference as we could hope for. Add JMU and/or Liberty for another close rival or two.

Agree, my opinion is the same. Better than now, but not what I am hoping for. Might be more attractive if JMU manages to turn around their basketball program with the new arena.

11/12 hour trips (one way) are brutal either way and have to hurt recruiting. The entire A10 minus St Louis, URI, and UMass are significantly inside that range... with URI and UMass being about the same... and SLU and Boston are cheap and easy to fly to.

Change out Middle Tenn and both Fla schools with App. State, Ga. Southern, Ga. State, ECU and Temple.

Now you’re onto something good. I thought AAC teams were “off the table”. Our perfect conference (of non-P5s) has to include ECU, Temple, Navy, VCU, GMU and JMU. If it included those 6 I wouldn’t even care who else was in it. (App, WM, And Char would be great though). But nothing is going to be perfect.
Great.. now I see George Mason @ VCU on NBCSports.
Regional teams on national TV. Former conference mates too.
Get us to the A10!

Exactly nobody is leaving aac or even sun belt. It is not great and you could add uab but you would have to make the conference more attractive by stability because no one will think it a step up from what they have right now. I say get 9 teams. Do not split money as much get stable, make a name for yourself and by having 9 gives you plenty of room for adding right teams when available. How about uab and Delaware for Florida schools?
NBCSN is going dark this year and that’s where a lot of the A10 content has gone so let’s see where those games go next season. If it’s USA, great. I bet it’s Peacock, NBC’s streaming service. More subs than ESPN+ but how many of them care about sports at all, much less upper mid major college basketball?

ECU and Temple think their britches are too big for the rest of the schools mentioned, but think about it neither one is setting the world on fire in either football or basketball.
