1. Earl Boykins
2. John Bowler
3. Matt Cline current assistant

Here's a list that is less than a year old and maybe outdated. I'm looking to see what might fit within the $325k-$350k per year range.

Only one player period! 24 years of losing with a few bright spots! Fan interest very low! EARL BOYKINS!!!!!!!!! Bob Wickersham we completely agree on this one!

I actually prefer Bowler over Boykins simply because he has HC experience (albeit at a JUCO) and D1 asst experience.

Interview them all.

Bronkema seems almost the prototype candidate as his career emulates the great Ben Braun or for that matter Jim Harkema. Boykins and Bowler need to be talked to as well. I assume that Wetherbee has an opinion as to Cline's potential and he clearly would be a bargain hire.

Let's just stay away from Power program assistants.
I agree Jerry!

Bronkema has been my guy for the past two years.

Cline shouldn’t be under consideration for the permanent job. That was a bad idea for WMU, and it’s a worse idea for us.
Honestly we need a recruiter more than a coach and one who can recruit D1 quality.

I have less of a problem with a P5 assistant if they have some college head coaching experience.

Ehhhh...that’s kind of who we’ve had the past decade.

Ramsey and Boone were not great recruiters in my opinion.
We need a Fred Castro recruiting type.

I like Dane but it would be a pay cut coming to EMU. You want a coach who is excited about the job and views it as a step up.

i think you need a guy with head coaching experience. there is something to be said about having experience running a team. look at CC's success relative to the previous few coaches who only had coordinator experience.

I love the top 2 choices. Matt Cline may very well become a good coach, I don't know, but the entire Murphy culture needs to be changed. If Earl or John become the next coach, I will buy season tickets and make it to at least 5 games. Of course, Ben Braun could be someone who could right the ship with a 2 year contract with a young top assistant to take over after learning from the master. Kind of like what Drake did with Dr. Tom Davis and Keno.

Get someone out here who can recruit SE Michigan. Look at Nate Oats - get that kind of guy.
Fife makes about 340k and Ferris St coach about 85k.
I'm not going to participate in the 6th* (?) annual whom is next for EMU MBB think-a-thon?

Who will be the next EMU MBB HC? I don't know this (best read with SNL's Kate McKinnion's Dr. WeKnowDis accent).

I think I have a better chance of answering other topics like: How many angels can dance on the head of a pin? When was the earth created (within +/- 500M years)?

* Sorry guys I've lost track of these threads.
I might add the last say 4 'revenue sports' hires, I don't think ANYONE got anyone of them correct. Not even how about C.C. from... Or how about Rob Murphy, from Detroit, was an asst at Kent and then Syracuse. Nope.

Rob Murphy - Nope.

C.C - Nope.

Tory Verdi - Nope

Castro - Nope

Unless there is an obvious candidate like English, I'd rather try guessing the lottery.
I think it will be Steve Hawkins. He is hanging around the program now, knows the league, and will probably be a salary that does not break the bank. He has two NCAA appearances and likes beer and chicken wings and we have plenty of those at Powell's.

Yeah i think its a better idea to speculate on the type of guy (alum connected to the program, low level HC, high level asst. etc) then a specific individual

Fife turned us down 10 years ago and hasn't budged since.
