Does anyone know the rule here? Are we in jeopardy because Charleston tested positive and has paused?
There isn't much info out there on the CoC shutdown. One article said that there was only one positive and it didn't say if it was a player. My guess is that we won't get shut down just because we played them last weekend. We would need to have someone in our system test positive.
Fingers crossed. Hoping we can keep dancing between the raindrops. I guess we will know in the next few days (at least if it was a result of contact with CofC)
There is a level of concern on my part...
NU hosts JMU this weekend at Cabot. Both games are on NESN at noon.

JMU's Matt Lewis hasn’t had good games against NU. In his 3 seasons (6 games) Lewis hadn’t scored more than 17 points in any game.

That's not going to beat us. JMU is also a weak rebounding team. They certainly can’t be taken lightly, but they shouldn’t beat us this weekend if we play our game. At the very least a split of the series.

You lead 37-31 at halftime. Walker and Doherty scored 10, and Lewis scored 9. Walker and Emanga have 3 assists, which ties Emanga's career-high. Each team attempted only 4 free throws. You made all 4, and JMU made 1. Doherty shot 5-6 and his 7 rebounds are 3 more than anyone else on either team, so I give him player of the half. Justin Amadi attempted his first three-pointer and made it while missing both of his twos. Jalen Hodge has 7 points off the bench, but no other contributions.
Rack it. Not the prettiest win in the world but good defense, especially in the 2nd half. Chris kept us afloat in the 1st half with his energy and then Telfort had a monster 2nd half. Hopefully, Chris is OK. Guess we may not see him tomorrow

What makes you say that? Was he really needed when he came out of the game?

Unless you know something I think he'll be fine. He was standing up after the game with the rest of the team. He looked okay to me.
He wasn't needed but probably would have come back if he was able. He went out with about 12 left but then we stretched the lead, which certainly made it an easier decision.

That said, I was purely speculating. Coach said we will see how he is tomorrow in the presser but usually we hold guys out in these spots rather than risking a longer term thing
Telfort was impressive today! He doesn't look like a freshman anymore.

Ditto for Walters. Hard to believe we spent most of last year begging him to stop the behind the back passes, dribbling into crowds and shooting threes.

Ditto for Doherty...a double double in less than twenty minutes. I cringed when he landed funny on his foot but it didn't look like a really bad "roll." Keeping fingers crossed. I guess we'll know soon enough.

Kudos to JMU for their defensive intensity...especially in the first half. It had to be discouraging to watch Telfort, Walters and Doherty shoot almost sixty percent despite that effort.
Telfort was huge in the game. He also did a nice job on defensive switches that put him on Lewis, who once again failed to score 20+ against us.

Walters still drives me nuts at times with his decision making, but he's become very clutch this season and a stout defender.

Let's try to get another Sunday.

Dud of a 1st half on both ends. Let's see if we can claw our way back into the game in the 2nd half and make a run. Chris is on crutches so I'd guess this is something that could be at least a couple of games
I would like to see less of E in the second half.
Not a great weekend. Less concerned about the split than I am about the ragged play for too many stretches. I guess we were due for a combination of a subpar defensive effort and a team shooting well against us

We fell in love with the 3 too much. Today, 60% of our FG attempts were threes and I didn't go back and look, but thought we shot a few too many yesterday

Our depth will be tested a bit as well with Chris out. I'd love to get Stucke back on track in the near future

Anyway, we knew this wouldn't be a road with no bumps. Time to evaluate and self-scout and get ready for what I expect to be a tough trip to Philly. Strange by the way, Drexel has played 3 league games vs W&M. I know they want to have teams play were they can, but I wouldn't think the conference would want to imbalance the schedule like that (why not make 3rd non-league)?
Yeah. I give JMU a lot of credit. Yesterday at crunch time we made shots and they stopped making them. Today they didn't

With Stucke I just think its a question of how do you keep Telfort off the floor. Take today, for instance......Stucke was playing okay defense, got a couple of rebounds and made a nice save of a bad pass but didn't put any points on the board. Emanga has to stay on the floor for defense so Stucke sits and Telfort plays. Stucke may still be starting because coach doesn't want to mess with a shooters biggest asset....his self confidence.

I think Stucke's limited action over the weekend was based on matchups. Much like last weekend at Charleston, both CofC and JMU have a lot of athletic guards who he has to chase around and they get up on him defensively.

And we know Coen does everything on matchups. So yeah he starts Stucke but the minutes he falls behind defensively or is ice cold, in comes Hadley.

I really don't think Stucke is impacted by Telfort. Telfort is coming off the bench regardless.

JMU got a big effort from Morse to win. Again, Lewis had very little impact but they found a way to get a win, so give them some credit. It didn't help we came out so lethargic and like NUFan35 said, way too many 3's. Strong especially was off and had no impact.

Potentially not having Doherty against James Butler and Drexel next week is a problem.

I don't follow this. Stucke didn't fall behind defensively. Strickland got a three but Stucke didn't let him drive by him and he wasn't ice cold....he didn't take any shots. Plus, Hadley didn't replace him....Telfort did.
And the first JMU game was pretty similar. Telfort came in for him after four minutes and change. Stucke wasn't ice cold. He hit his only shot. And Strickland didn't
score on him, in fact Stucke blocked Strickland's only shot.
First of all, I didn’t say he was ice cold Sunday. I’m giving a blueprint of why Stucke gets pulled. Don’t take everything so literally.

If Stucke isn’t contributing offensively like he didn’t all weekend, what good is he then? He’s not a defensive stalwart and Strickland is one player. He switched off players defensively and your not always on the same man. That’s my point.

Telfort doesn’t always come in for Stucke. We know that. At least I do.

I like Stucke, but he would have no impact in yesterday’s game if he got back on the floor, which he didn’t.
Wiz, I can't read your mind. All I have to go by are the words you type and you typed, "...so he starts Stucke but the minute he falls behind defensively or gets ice cold, in comes Hadley."

What I originally posted is tha it's getting harder to not put Telfort on the floor and he usually replaces Stucke. His minutes have risen to where he's now averaging over thirty mpg. Stucke's minutes have steadily dropped. His problem is that right now is that Stucke is pretty much one dimensional while Telfort has become the opposite of one dimensional. Stucke is coming out at the 15:30 mark because Telfort has earned those minutes. At Orangeville Stucke's shots were almost always from three. I'l bet that the coaches are working with him on driving to the hoop. If so, he'll get more open threes.
