If I had to guess the 6th school, by the principle of low lying fruit, it would be Monmouth as an affiliate. Robert Morris just signed a contract with the Big South starting in 2021 season that would carry them through the 2024 season as a typical 4 year period of length. However Monmouth's contract will end after the 2021 season, so they would be a free agent able to join the ASUN in 2022 season, which would coincide with the entry of UCA, EKU and Jacksonville State.
I hope you are talking about by air? Otherwise that's dangerous speeds! Nashville to Memphis is over 200 miles.
I wonder why CA is leaving for the A-Sun? The Southland seems much more geographically sane.
Keep an eye out on Missouri State. Maybe Central Arkansas can convince them to make the move if Liberty ever jumps to a new conference for its Olympic Sports.

Missouri State is not leaving the best FCS football conference and one of the best mid-major basketball conference (A10 and MVC are at the top of the mid-majors--I'm not calling AAC or MWC mid major)
Y'know, it wasn't always the Atlantic Sun. Used to be the Trans America Athletic Conference, and it reached all the way to Texas. In fact, Pan American (now UTRGV) was in it.

My bad, I was thinking Jax State which is within 2½ hours of Lipscomb, UNA and KSU.
UCA is far from anyone.
This is a get out of Dodge City move.That BS about FBS is just cover for the move. Maybe within a decade one of the exiting SLC schools makes the jump to FBS, but not the entire small fry conference (speaking both ASUn and WAC).

It’s still not the Atlantic Sun. Ask the Commissioner on twitter.

I refuse to call it the ASUN until they explain what the U and N stand for.
I think the person means SE Missouri State not Missouri State.
EKU and Jacksonville State wants FBS badly, but the only way for the ASUN to get them is to get those two.
I would target Chattanooga and Tennessee State since they do have the stadium size. If you get Tennessee State? Would you go after Florida A&M and North Carolina A&T?
Then you can have affiliates until UNA, UCA and Kennesaw State are ready to join.
Youngstown State, UConn. and UMass. as affiliates can help.

Yes, not much "Atlantic" about Central Arkansas, LOL.
Not much "Atlantic" about Saint Louis either. Not much "Atlantic Coast" about Notre Dame. Not much "East" about Creighton, DePaul, or Marquette. And what's the name of the "Big" conference with 10 teams again?
Or the SEC being as far west as Texas and as far north as Kentucky. How many teams are in the Big 10?
You haven't experienced true beauty until you've seen Arizona's, Utah's, or even Colorado's Pacific Coast.

Yes, there is some great ocean front property in Arizona.
The OVC is really falling. We have heard rumors now of 5 of it's members looking at possible moves. When I look around for possible schools for the ASUN 6 it's mostly OVC schools:
// likely in ASUN
1. Jacksonville State (OVC) --name already dropped as one of the ASUN schools
2. Eastern Kentucky (OVC) --name already dropped as one of the ASUN schools
// Possibly inclined to change conferences
3. Murray State (OVC) -- were MVC focused, but door closed, ASUN better hoops, already added fee to upgrade athletic funding for move
4. Norfolk State (MEAC) -- BOT revealed they have been exploring options including Big South, which ASUN schools
5. SEMO (OVC) -- have been unhappy in the past, talked with WAC years ago, but geography doesn't make sense (well UCA)
// other possible public schools
6. Tennessee State (OVC) -- turned down SWAC, have different vision; could that be FBS path aspirations? (I think not likely this school)
Tennessee-Martin, Tennessee Tech, Austin Peay State (all OVC) -- no sign of wanderlust in this group
Delaware State (MEAC) -- not aspirational looking around rather survival boat, BOT revealed they tried NEC, poor fit for ASUN
Chattanooga (SoCon) -- It would shock me if anyone left the SoCon for the ASUN, as they told the SBC no.
ETSU (SoCon) -- no sign of wanderlust.
That's all I see off the top of my head. None of the remaining SLC schools, as the public schools in Louisiana financial situation is what likely drove the split in the first place. Also Dr. Teague (UCA AD) said the SLC is down to 8, meaning no others involved.
We should have a pool on naming the 3 unnamed schools
IMO Murray State is doubtful-- unless they use an offer as leverage to get an MVC invite. Of course there is the prisoner's dilemma argument ( if EKU, J-state go we should). Remember they are a basketball school and the ASUN would be a lateral move at best with increased travel cost.
