I think this illustrates that this season doesn't matter to anyone.
This just has a bad feel to it. ... Don’t really think our players are too happy about it either.

Frustrating. This is really bogus!

I agree 1000%. And I would have felt the same way if this were NU.

Not Covid related, play somehow.
That's hogshit. What a mickey mouse ******* conference.

The CAA has really opened a can of worms here. What if Delaware plays the first game against their next opponent and then has a twisted ankle. So they opt out of the second game next week too. Etc Etc Etc. Do they ever make up any of these games? Which games would they make up first? What if the next opponent says "no"? Then W&M would have every right to cry foul (assuming, as many believe, that the CAA pressured W&M into agreeing).

They should have played. If Delaware got beat then that is the price of injuries. It might have also been a great opportunity for someone on their bench to move into the starting lineup....It might have been a great opportunity for Painter to have a 25/25 game....who knows?

I guess nobody could stomach the preseason #2 (?) team losing twice to the preseason #10 team.

Truly, that can't be it. Can it? Like aside from how stupid a decision that would be, in no universe is UD the #2 team in the conference.

It does seem like it should be a forfeit for Delaware, but other than making our record look better, it doesn't mean much.

I would say that the OOC games are the ones whose results aren't greatly relevant. Every conference game, however, can wind up affecting seeding at tournament time. If one game changes our seed or their seed, that can potentially advantage or disadvantage every single team. If we lose a game we otherwise might've won if it were played normally just because our opponent got a free pass at their lowest point, and consequently wind up with a harder matchup in March, our players should have every right to be pissed.

For goodness sake, they made Alabama play with three players for the better part of a half a few years ago (and they almost won!).

I'd be insulted if I were their walk-ons. You approach every practice, every weight room, every film session thinking you're good enough to step up in a situation like this. Now your AD is effectively saying you're so bad they'd rather stop the game entirely than let you play in a meaningful situation. If there's no way they'll even allow you a chance, what's the point of caring?
Even UD fans disagree with it, and think it's a real slap to their walk-ons.
An observation about today's game, Painter had zero fouls. Major mistake to not take the ball at him and make him defend more.

Doesn't mean much ??
I disagree.
What message are you sending to every player on every team that is not in the top 7 rotation who work and prepare just as hard as as they do ? You make a decision like this saying its for the health and well being of the students ? They warmed up 9 guys with 1 hurt. 2 more got hurt. They only played 7 in our game. So they have 5 scolly and 2 walk ons. Boohoo; In this logic we should have post poned the whole season because we have to play 4 freshman and for their health and well being we need to wait until they are more mentally and physically ready. Dah. We should never have agreeed to it. Especially with covid a legitimate threat to every single game. Lets just give all the teams a conference championship trophy too.

What I mean is Delaware said we can't play this game. We could (probably) have told them take a forfeit loss, and while it would've looked nice on our record, it wouldn't have shown us anything about our team.

I do agree it's lame on Delaware's part.

Amazing because it felt like he went over the back on many rebound attempts. He’s so physical. Very surprising he wasn’t called for anything

Oh from Delaware's perspective I agree, 100% a weak move.

I was thinking from our standpoint. A forfeit win helps the team move up in the standings, but it doesn't actually make the team better/improve us in a meaningful way.
Bad decision

I’m old enough to remember all the times injury-depleted Tribe teams took the floor in league games and got a shellacking from Delaware and the rest. Frankly, tell them to go get their club team if they have to and meet us on the **** court

I wonder if the SoCon is interested in taking new members
.....and I'm paying for Flo

Very nice of them ,but in the best interest of the health and safty of Delewares student athletes,I think we owe it to them to offer to play them either Friday or even Monday aftet the Drexel games,at their place.after all in the best intrest of Deleware student athlets it would not be fair to ask them to make a 2nd trip here,or if Deleware player still has a hang nail or sore tummy we could make same offer during our trip to Towson. Or maybe we should suggest we play the womens team. Lets not play the games at all. Just let adminiatrators decide who has more talent on the roster after all that would be safest for our students. Just take the last place.
This bad bs decision is on W&M, not Delaware. It feels as if we're in the "playing for a participation trophy without keeping score mode".

W&M and UD are preparing these young men for the bigger game of life. What lesson does this impart, carry on when times are tough or give up at the first sign of adversity? Oh, it it isn't compassion, it is enabling behavior.

Don't expect anyone else to reciprocate when the shoe is on the other foot.

That's why Huge was let go,she wanted yo win,
This is so bogus. In what D-1 world does this happen? Even D-2 or D-3? You suit up and you play.

Unless this was Dane's decision, we should have told Delaware and the league, "We'll be there and ready to play at 2:00." Norman Dale's team played with four players, I think Delaware could have managed. This makes Delaware look weak.
