It was the right move and still can be if they reduce footprint and add jmu or liberty and app st coastal ga state ga southern. reduce footprint by taking cusa east minus florida schools. maybe add uab and take both jmu and liberty. makes more sense than what they are thinking

JMU is FCS, Georgia Southern is 10 hours away at least and sucks at basketball , App State is a haul as well and sucks at basketball, and Coastal also sucks at basketball. Liberty and JMU are the only ones of those schools I have any interest in. I guess I App and Coastal would be ok as outliers. It is one thing if to be rich enough to charter flights to places like Clemson, Georgia Tech, BC and Syracuse every week but who wants to spend half the week on a bus traveling those distances? Unfortunately the move to FBS made a fitting conference almost impossible. Only way to do it is split off football for its own arrangement.

You were advocating going to the Big South to join Longwood and Campbell. You can't be complaining about GaSo, App and JMU sucking at MBB.

fair, JMUsucks at basketball but trending up with a better coach and a player refresh...better facility

Hmmm...lets see:

Between 09 and 16 under Matt Brady they ranked between 91 and 267 in Ken Pom with an average of 180.

Under Louis Rowe, they ranged from 223 to 231 with an average of 262.

Under Mark Byington they are currently 229.

I guess you are saying they are trending in the right direction because they are slightly better than the last coach?

Trending up isn't hard after 2-14 CAA record last year. 9-21 overall and lost 8 in a row to end the year with a nice 306 RPI.

JMU will be fine. That new arena will really help. They already recruited Christmas away from us. The only thing that hurts them other than history is their lack of diversity. When your school is only 4% african American (how do they even get away with that in Virginia??) its going to be tough getting some of the better athletes to attend.
They didn't really recruit Christmas away...he was a much higher priority for them than he was for us.
How much would Christmas be playing for us?
What about Ramon Snowden? 05-stirthepot

Im assuming he's playing the NBA, right?
The state of athletics under Cameron Wood Selig is P!ss Poor. Anyone should be able to see that. Fire him at the end of BB season....along with Jeff Jones.

Better yet, fire him now so that we can get an AD in place to hire JJ's replacement after the season.

I know he isn't getting fired with JB on his way out the door, but one can dream.

Simple and to the point. Hear hear!
My engagement is at an all time low. I don't even go out of my way to watch games anymore. It just doesn't matter. Every season comes down to the conf tournament and that's it.

As for football, I guess I'll care about that again in the fall...but basketball has fallen so far.

Christmas lit up VCU and JMU came back from playing very sloppy and 19 down in the second half and lost by 1.

JMU beat Towson last week.

Are either of these games hang a hat on it worthy? No, but better is better.

We will take more Christmas' from the VA Beach area if ODU does not want them, thanks!

AMEN!
I think it is impossible for any sane person to be anything other than apathetic at this point. The most fun I've had as an ODU fan since we beat WKU in the title game a couple years ago is reading nonsensical conference realignment speculation.

What is the remaining term on Jones' contract? Clearly he has to go. Unfortunately, we will probably wait for his contract to expire before we part ways.

Jones? Jones? -- Isn't he the coach of our roundball team that made such an amazing comeback win tonight?

Sure, and the same Jones, whereby we get stomped the following night. Please, please, put us out of our misery. Count me in the group, I just don’t care much anymore. Just same old boring, losing basketball. Ugh.
JJ has had only one losing season out of 8. I don't think he's replaced till we get new prez, and new AD.
I hate it, but after 30 years of hardcore Monarch fandom, I’m not as into it under Jones either. But it may not all be JJs fault. Sure, His boring, mediocre style and lack of success contributes, and he needs to go. But so does playing teams we don’t care about, not being able to drive to away games, not being able to watch on TV, no weekly coaches show, no conference rivalries against friends schools, not being competitive in the few games we do care about... combine that with Covid and it’s a wonder any of us are left. I know I’m not alone in feeling this way either.

And only 1 NCAA tournament too. And I think only 2 victories over our arch rival. We’ve fired others for less.
