Well, I hate that...but good luck big fella
Not surprising. He's got a good shot to make it as a pro.
I think Smith, Spencer and Watkins all are making the right decision. I wish them all the best and hope they can make their nfl dreams a reality.

Seems like they could have finished the season and done the same thing. But that's just me.
Congrats to him and best of luck in the league.. that announcement was cringeworthy at best

The season is finished. Even if we go to a bowl game (and we may choose not to) its not going to be a bowl game experience. There isnt going to be a week spent doing fun team activities and staying in a swanky hotel. It would be going to wherever the bowl is the day before the game and treating it like a road game. It's also not going to be a chance for "one last game" for our seniors as most of our seniors will be back next year.

The guys who have a chance to play in the NFL should be prepping for that process in the most covid safe way possible..
Guess I'll agree to disagree.

I think you finish what you start. If you're supposed to be part of a team and they aren't done playing, you shouldn't be done playing. It's about following through on a commitment. We're talking about another two weeks at most.

Oh well. Gives somebody at DE a chance to step up and shine like Shropshire did. I'd say Nikia Eason.

That’s a bad lesson for anybody that wants to have a successful career. Knowing when to leave is almost as important as knowing when to stay. Way too many people stay in a job that isn’t benefiting their life or career the way it should simply because they feel personally attached to it and feel bad about leaving. Sometimes it’s right to make the call and leave for your own good, regardless of being a part of a team and being in the middle of missions/goals.
I understand why they left. I think I’d have to think very hard about making the same decision if I were in their shoes, and probably would make the same move, especially this year.

I agree in general. My parents engrained this in me as well. If you join a team, you finish it out. Smith I understand a bit more, because getting hurt in that meaningless bowl game would be disastrous for his future.

A job is typically not like a team in the length of the commitment. If your job was year to year with a contract, I’d imagine you’d finish it out if you like getting paid.
more practice and playing time for their replacements

I saw where Smith and Watkins entered the 2021 draft. Did I miss where Spencer officially declared for the draft?

Same for me. You finish what you start. This isn't an open-ended job, this is a commitment for a season of team sports. If the team has a game left to play, the season's not over. I guess that's just antiquated thinking these days.

I actually think differently about Spencer Brown. He's given us four great years while being injured half the time. If he decided to pass on the bowl game to heal up for the NFL, he's more than earned it.
These guys aren't getting paid and they have to think about their future. If any of these guys got hurt in a meaningless bowl game fans wouldn't care one bit. Given how much players get screwed over they deserve some leeway to make decisions in their best interest. And I'm sure Clark is good with their decisions which is good enough for me.
Smith to the Senior Bowl
Gotta protect your long term future and potential to earn millions of dollars. I don’t blame them or have any hard feelings. If we were playing for a national championship that’s a different story.
