It’s not. It would be a huge upgrade even if it’s not perfect.

If Texas and Okie are looking like SEC members in '22 or '23, you're likely only waiting 12 - 18 days for many of the shifts to occur.
ACC - Would be just about perfect, obviously. I just don't know why the would now decide to grab UC.

BIG 12 + American 4 - Not perfect, but it would be a major upgrade, especially for basketball.

AAC Current - I honestly don't mind the conference. I've come to enjoy some of the teams in it. The bottom 3/4 are a huge boat anchor though.

AAC Pillaged - This is what concerns me. Being left behind in a bombed out and depleted AAC. Less money. Less teams. Albatross.

Things will happen quickly. Texas/OU officially asks for invite. NO WAY they stay in that conference until 2025. The rest of the conference will be VERY impatient to wait 12-18 months to figure out what everyone else is going to do.

Has Big 12 leadership EVER inspired confidence that they'll do the correct thing?
Just a thought-

Do you think UC has requested an invite to the SEC? Couldn't hurt to ask, right? I feel like they could make a pretty compelling pitch. Lotta sports fan eyeballs in Cincinnati.
TX and OK staying to 2025 is not good for anyone. Reminds me of a friend getting divorced but continuing to live in the same house with his to be ex-wife.

Better to work out a deal and end in 2022 versus 3 years of purgatory.

Better for fans, better for recruiting, etc.

Can you imagine the SEC TV ratings for an opening historic double header of

1. OK v AL 1 PM EST
2. TX v TAMU 9 PM EST

Both games at Jerry Jones Palace

Like some of us have been saying, sooner rather than later...
Look, I don't care if we're in a leftovers B12.

I'm so tired of playing Temple, Tulane and ECU I could just scream. MAKE IT HAPPEN!!

Disagree. Watching hundreds of "horns down" gestures after every single touchdown against Texas for the next 3 years, and their fans/admins going into an uncontrolled rage every single time, would be hilarious to everyone in college football.
I would laugh SO hard if the SEC Presidents all said, "That's OK, we're not really interested in Texas and Oklahoma."

It would also be fun if the SEC Presidents offered UT/OU half revenue shares for their first 5-10 years in the conference.

It would be funny but this deal has been already worked out.

Even if it’s not a windfall it would be more money, way better basketball and football opponents that lots of casual UC fans would actually pay to see.

Checks enough boxes for me.
Aaaaand, WVU pushing to get into the AAC.

If that works, could be awful for UC for multiple reasons.
Adding TX to the SEC is like have another Kentucky, Tennessee or Missouri on the schedule. Just another 7-5 team fighting it out to play in the Music City Bowl in January.

Why is that? I'm not a realignment guru, unfortunately for me.

Definitely check it out if you have a subscription, but it basically amounts to only 90.000 viewers different over the last 6 years.

Yeah, but UC and UCF are the two most valuable programs in the AAC.

Compare the ratings for KSU vs ECU. Or Baylor vs Tulane. It's not even close.

Also, the Big 12 is getting about $35 million per member. Even if Texas/Oklahoma are worth $115 million apiece, that means the Little 8 are worth $15 million apiece.

And if Texas/Oklahoma are worth $115 million apiece, then so are Alabama, Georgia, LSU, and Florida. And Texas A&M and Auburn are close (call it $100 million apiece). That would mean the rest of the SEC (which gets $45.5 million apiece) is worth negative 2.3 million apiece (which is impossible).

Similarly, the AAC is getting $8 million apiece. It's likely that the top 3-4 programs are worth double ($16 million) and the bottom ones are worth half or less ($3-4 million).

So I think it's quite reasonable to think that a Big 12 that adds UC, UCF, Houston, and Memphis would get $15 million apiece for TV rights.

I don't care about the other AAC programs...I just care about Cincinnati. They are on level ratings with the Tagalong 8.
Posted on the AAC board that sources tell the SEC network the B12 is now looking at Houston, UC, Memphis and BYU and if BYU says no then UCF. Offers for admission go out next week.

That would be a hella good basketball and football conference combo.

Just so I'm clear, you mean the ACC not the AAC, correct? I mean, I'm pretty sure WVU has wanted into the ACC since 1953 lol.
