Grandstanding at best. Texas can do whatever they want.
In the end, you may be right. But it doesn't appear in the short term anything is imminent. Texas AND Oklahoma leaving the B12 pretty much renders that conference moot - a financial shell of its former self. There's a lot of money and power at stake for the other schools. That tends to complicate things a bit.
It’s still better than the American without those two, the same the Big East was better than C-USA after the last two raids.
This is both exciting and frightening.

Yes. It may be our last best chance to break into the cool kids group or we will forever be on the outside looking in.
At least UC football is on everybody's radar after the great seasons we have had.
I only hope Pres. Pinto really understands the importance of athletics to an academic institution.
Texas and OU did not participate in the Big12 conference call today. What that means?
Texas state legislature getting involved would be the perfect way to make an already messy situation into a full blown cataclysm.

FB drives the bus. UC has only 4 losing seasons in the last 20. In 10 of the 20 we won 9 or more.
Hopefully Dr. Bean can sell the product.

Yeah...aren’t all those Texas freedom fighters living on room service in DC right now?
The idea of UC moving to yet another frankenstein conference doesn’t do much for me. We’ve been specializing in this since the 80’s.

Between this bologna and the NIL circus we’re gonna have to find a new reason to get together and gripe over barley and hops.
Initially I was worried that we would be left in a worse situation, but the more I consider it I don’t see that as a realistic possibility. With CFP we should at least gain access to the Playoffs and it makes no sense at all for the SEC, OU, or UT to join if Playoff Expansion doesn’t happen. If OU/UT does jump to the SEC (or B10/P12) it means CFP expansion is inevitable.
With CFP expansion our situation will improve, at least minimally, while there is also a small chance that we improve further. We could end up in the B12 leftover league and receive something like 15-20m a year, which isn’t as much as we hoped but far more than our current deal in the AAC. Also an outside chance we get an invite to the ACC, which is probably the best scenario for us.
In the end, we shouldn’t come out worse than we are now and with CFP expansion we should improve out position. How much is the question. Let’s hope our leadership makes the right moves and right out he’s while knowing the right people to get us into a real conference (ACC).
Expansion is happening. And that is primarily to benefit the SEC and B1G.

Yep. The power consolidation and split I’ve been predicting is happening sooner rather than later and regardless of what conference we call home, we are not going to be on the right side of it.

I would take it in a heartbeat. Actually have a rival in WVU. OSU, good ISU, solid teams like TCU. It would be the Big East again. No great teams, but good teams. UCF or BYU along for the ride along with 10+ million more a year and better exposure.

It would be the BE again in more ways than one. Our new mates will be looking to jump off the ship again before we have even crossed the quarterdeck.

It’s not a permanent situation, but it’s improvement. Clearly not ideal and if that’s where we land we can’t be content to just stay there, but again it is an improvement in the short term while we continue to build and work towards a better opportunity.

i'm legitimately curious to see what the market is for a b12 less tx and ou.

Rutgers went to the B10. That Rutgers.... Who’d have ever called that when we joined the BE?
There are rumors about a few of the schools’ possible matches in the dating game if pieces start moving. The B12 TV deal is going to get torn up when the top 2 of its inventory leave. So will some of the bowl tie ins. Mix in the big exit fee and remember that the B12 made WVU live on crumbs for years after they joined and that seems to have hurt them competitively...they didn’t get a full share for a long time.
Just saying it might not be the oasis we have been hoping for while wandering the AAC desert.
We move to a new conference every 9 years so we are about due for the moving truck to show up.

Yeah, the AAC is sticking together thru thick and thin...until any one of them gets a better opportunity. I guess I missed the AAC GOR?
