1. UB- who can stop their run?
2. BSU- in the driver's seat with one more pit stop to make
3. Miami- they beat Ball State and have only played one other game...
4. Kent State- at least offensively I like them a lot
5. WMU- hasn't looked dominant the last two weeks at all
6. Toledo- who knows with this team
7. Ohio- it's still hard to gauge them with a lack of games
8. CMU- slipping
9. EMU- finally closed a game out
10. Akron- first win in a few seasons!
11. NIU- will be scary in 2022
816. BG
UB up to 24 in the rankings, first time they've been ranked in program history.

Also Miami has played two games aside from Ball - lost to UB (nothing to be ashamed of) and killed Akron last week. We're probably somewhere 2-4 but without playing OU or Kent it's really hard to tell.
Winner of BSU - WMU goes to Detroit to face the Bulls.
It’s amazing for the Bulls to be ranked. Never thought i’d see the day. But to crack the Top 25 without playing a game is pretty funny. I mean i’ll gladly take it, but i don’t blame anyone if they want to see a little more of UB before handing them a ranking.
CMU has to be above Ohio considering they beat them H2H and it's 2-1 vs. 3-2. Not to mention Ohio's 2 wins are over Akron and BG.

Overall yeah but CMU has regressed. They needed a 25 pt 4th to overcome EMU and got beat pretty handily to BSU. I don't have a guage for Ohio at the moment but CMU is trending down. That's why this week, I have them just behind.

When I was putting together a ranking system 10 year I used the prior 5 years as a basis point for evaluating a program until the data points smoothed out.

For example if you are thinking Ohio is the 7th best program in the MAC after its won 3 straight bowl games that doesn't have very much basis. Likewise having Ball State ranked up at #2 when they needed a lucky play to get past EMU.

Buffalo has now performed at a level in the past few years to deserve a top ranking. Kent won a bowl last year so Top 5 is reason. Ball State though has had 6 straight losing seasons. They are a mediocre MAC team that hit a stroke of luck.

Defending MAC champs says something.

I just don't think Ball should be put on a pedestal when all they've done is snuck up on Toledo and CMU this year.

Since when does bowls from previous years go into a power ranking of this season? 01-wingedeagle
Win your clunkers... If Ball State goes 5-1 idk how you wouldn't have them second... Miami just doesn't have the games (yet) to put them 2nd.
BGSU is way overrated here.

Kinda hard to gauge Ohio when they’ve beaten the two worst teams in the conference. You can say lucky or whatever but I’m happy they snuck up on teams 4 times now. That is super sneaky!
Arizona 0-4 down 42-7 almost half to 0-2 Arizona St

Maybe Bowling Green could beat them?

This was the worst Falcon football team in school history. But Scot Loeffler will get this turned around.

Yep. winning five games in a row and beating every team in the West is all luck..
Congrats to Ball State.

The result (and BSU overcoming a 2 TD deficit late) didn't surprise me. MAC fans are getting a good look at WMU's Tim Lester era. The guy collapses in late-season crunch time every season.

Again you have to judge a program by what they've done over the past 5 years when you have limited data points. That is what Phil Steele does with his college preview. He looks at how these teams have performed over the past 5 years and the recruiting classes they had in those years.

That said congrats to Ball St for winning the MAC West title. That is a much bigger deal than just upsetting Toledo (which is easy to do).

tim lester isn't on the field. if the team collapses late season it's usually because their depth isn't good or they had too many injuries. WMU had a decent mini season. Ball St got some breaks this year for a change. they've been coached better than their record for a while, so, I give credit where it is due
