Georgia, unlike Alabama, never cleaned the GOP out by ridding themselves of former Dixiecrats. Old Southern Dems have found their way into too many GOP positions in Georgia and while they aren't directly the Dixiecrats they are the paid help of those who once controlled them. Therein lies the issue in Georgia. Thank God that George Corley Wallace never changed parties or Alabama would have had the same issue!
