http://www.louhenson.com/LOU_HENSON_WATCH_LIST.pdf lists 50 players, and 22 conferences are eligible. Wynter and Matt Lewis are the CAA players. Other than the top six conferences, the American Athletic, Atlantic 10, Conference USA, and Mountain West are ineligible. Three of them make sense, but Conference USA is ineligible because of when it had Memphis and was better than it is now, and it should now be eligible. It uses the same definition of "mid-major" as the Mid-Major Poll.
I decided to change the title of the thread that EvanJ started to include all awards.

Today, Cam Wynter was named CAA Player of the week for averaging 18.3 points and 6 assists per game over Drexel's 3 game winning streak.
On Saturday, Hannah Nihill was voted by the fans as the CAA Women's Basketball Player of the Day.

Maura Hendrixson is nominated for today's award. You can vote here. https://twitter.com/CAABasketball/status...4180731915
Cam Wynter is on the Lou Henson Award Midseason watch list as a candidate for the award for the top mid-major player.

I checked his statistics. I didn't know he was shooting threes .432. He's arguably the second best player behind Matt Lewis, who should win POY easily as long as he keeps playing. Wynter has some statistics better than Lewis, but Lewis averages 3.5 more points than Jalen Ray in second and 4.4 more points than Wynter.
Hannah Nihill won CAA Player of the Week honors for averaging 20 points, 3.5 steals, and 3 assists this week. She was dominant on Saturday. Sunday, her shooting was a little off, but she still made a huge impact including her game winning layup with 1 second left on Sunday.

Of course, there was slim pickings since their was only 2 games played. Anyway, Congrats to Cam!!!
before the game sunday i was thinking they should put a statue up outside the dac of hannah nihill. i'm probably getting carried away...but she does more with what she has than any player that's come through that program. marginean at least had some size. i don't get the feeling she wants to be a scorer at all. she had to be this year and stepped up to that role.

i have no idea who else is in the running for caa player of the year...and that can be different from "mvp". it's hard to imagine another team having a more valuable player than what nihill has been to our program. we lost two pillars on the team include a caa player of the year and are still in the mix mostly because nihill has carried us offensively.

Hannah could be the best overall athlete to come through this program in a long time. She's an incredibly smart and tough player who knows how to use her lack of size to her advantage. If she were over 6 feet tall, she could be WNBA draft pick. Of course, if she were over 6 feet tall with her talent and athleticism, she wouldn't be playing for Drexel.

I've got to think that Jasmine Dickey of UD will win POY. She is the leading scorer in the CAA while playing for the team that pretty much dominated the league this year. No matter how deserving/valuable Hannah might be, I can't see her winning as the sixth leading scorer in the CAA on the fourth place team. If there was an award voted on by the players for Player I'll Be Most Happy to see Graduate and Not Have to Play Against Again, I have to think Nihill would win.
idk Waterboy, Jeter would give Hannah a tough running for that made up award

But will they "graduate" from playing since the NCAA has given the one year extension waiver that will allow them to return next year?
i tried for a statistical justification for giving poy to nihill. i agree it was hard to find. it's my job to be a fan first though.
I agree it’s gotta be Dickey.

The CAA published their Men's Basketball Awards. Matt Lewis was POY as expected.

The only Drexel players to win any awards were....
Cam Wynter - 1st Team All CAA
James Butler - 3rd Team All CAA

Congrats to Cam and the other JB.

Maybe. All players have an extra season of eligibility, so it matters if seniors return. Of the three seniors on the First Team, Dylan Painter already had a redshirt season, while Matt Lewis and Jalen Ray didn't. I'm guessing that players who already had a redshirt season are less likely to spend a sixth season in school for a fifth sports season. Furthermore, Painter could play pro somewhere, and Lewis wanted to be drafted after his junior season, so he could go pro. It matters if players want a fifth season to get higher on career leaders. Jalen Ray is a star now, but he used to be a sixth man, and he hasn't scored nearly as much as Justin Wright-Foreman and Eli Pemberton. If seniors Ray and Tareq Coburn (who already had a redshirt season) both leave, Hofstra could struggle offensively next season.

James Butler had a redshirt season after transferring from Army. Before the season started, the NCAA had already approved another season for Butler, which would be his 4th year playing at Drexel, 5th year playing overall (partial year at Army), 6th year overall in school.
You mean Navy JB not Army. Anyhow not sure many seniors come back for an addiitional year, if they do they likely transfer up. Wouldnt be shocked to see Cam leave as well

Hannah Nihill got some amazing recognition in the CAA WBB Awards.

She's 1st team all CAA, Defensive Player of the Year, AND won the prestigious Dean Ehlers Award. She's the first ever Dragon to be Defensive POY.

Keishana Washington is 3rd team All CAA.

Congrats to Hannah and Keishana for these great accomplishments.
