I was just thinking the last time we scored 86 points in a game and you have to go back to 2017.

agreed. I liked that as well. Haven't looked to see if it's online yet but might see if I can find it.
Oh, man. I got a rise out of that video. Best one we have produced yet. I need to see it again but it had some great historical clips: Billy Mann vs. #1 DePaul in 81, Petey with the dagger vs. Villanova in 95, Freeman's buzzer beater, etc. I don't remember seeing Gattison. Would have been nice to get a clip of him in the win vs. West Virginia in 86. I remember seeing Frank, but not sure if that was against Notre Dame in '10 or not.

It happened so fast I wasn't sure of what I was looking at. But it was damn good. If anyone finds a link, please share it.

We need to keep this in perspective....we played against a depleted and very young W&M team. I think NSU will be more a gauge on where we stand. Know we are not a mid level BG10 team and nor are we a bottom CAA team.
We are definitely way closer to a bottom CAA team right now. Not to say we can’t improve, but right now it is what it is.

I agree Uncle Frank. NSU will be a solid test/measuring test. It will be interesting to see the opening line. I’m guessing we’ll be favored by a few points.
Tonight's game with William and Mary playing at NC State has been cancelled due to reportedly COVID 19 issues with the Tribe. Were those issues going on this past Saturday?
This could be bad news for us depending on the circumstances. Dang

If it is one of their three point shooters, no Monarchs got close enough to him to catch Covid.
In the Jeff Jones era 2013/14-2019/20 his teams have scored 15929 points in 239 games a 66.65 ppg average.
This year 76.5 ppg
In these years this highest average FGA per game was last year 59.3 attempts per game, this year 64.5
Same years, the highest 3pt attempts per game was 2017/18 with 22.2 3ptA per game , this year 25
we're pushing the pace
Its early. JJ's teams usually play freer early in the season before he has had a chance to fully install is vaunted offensive system.
We are actually playing the fastest we ever have but we are lower in tempo than last year (relative to other teams). Other teams must be playing faster as well. Offensive efficiency (116) has been better than almost every year. Defense has not been. (111) Shooting way more 3s than normal.
It’s two games, way too small of a dataset to conclude anything.

This is so dumb. CAA has been an average of 5 spots lower than CUSA the last 3 years. The bottom half of that conference is awful. And I'm not including W&M. They will be much higher in that conference than anyone expects. We too are integrating a lot of new faces. We'll not set the world on fire but we are not lower half of CUSA or lower 3/4 of the CAA.

Let me tell you how bad the CAA is this year. C of Charleston is picked 3rd they were 170 in Kenpom last year. Lost 4 starters from that team an is picked 3rd in CAA. CAA will be horrible this year.

W&M could be a top level CAA team. Maryland could be a national champion contender. As I said above, we could certainly improve. My only point is that right now, for what it is worth, we look to be much closer to W&M's level than Maryland's. If the preseason predictions pan out, we have a looooong way to go before the CUSA tournament even becomes interesting, much less any other postseason discussion.

Not sure where you got that info. I just looked it up and the CAA has rated higher three out of the last four seasons. Only last season were we the better conference. 2016-CAA:8, CUSA:22, 2017-CAA:11, CUSA 26, 2018-CAA:12, CUSA: 14, 2019-CAA:18, CUSA:13

Average over the last 4 seasons: CAA:12.25 CUSA:18.75. (ouch)

They may suck again this season, I just don't see the CAA 5 spots lower over the last 3 years according to RPI.
RPI is about the worst thing you can use.

Have to dig through Kenpom to see if they have, but Jeff Sagarin does this every year.

Last year, CUSA was 15th, CAA was 18

2020: 15 vs 18
2019: 16 vs 20
2018: 13 vs 14
2017: 22 vs 13
2016: 21 vs 10
2015: 17 vs 20

Here it is:
Kenpom (per the Blue Ribbon Yearbook)

CUSA
2017 11
2018 16
2019 13

CAA
2017 15
2018 22
2019 18

Differential by year 4, 6, 5 4+6+5=15. 15/3=5

That is how I got my numbers.

Sagarin and Kenpom are NOT the same systems.
I think people assume the CAA is the CAA of 1995.
