We were supposed to open at home against New Mexico, but they have already cancelled. We're still trying get a series scheduled at Reckling to start the season.

Bob, when's the season-opener? I've heard rumors from multiple sources that the baseball season could very well be pushed back a month-- both to attempt to outrun COVID and to avoid overlap with the plethora of Winter sports (including volleyball and soccer). It's awfully hard to schedule when you don't know the start date. Also, at least several conferences have already announced in-conference games only. Is that why New Mexico canceled on us?

I would imagine that New Mexico baseball hasn't figured out a new home base to practice for their upcoming season, given that the state is prohibiting gatherings of more than five people.

Don't know about our schedule. It's probably in flux. New Mexico isn't starting their season until April 17th so they've cancelled or postponed all games earlier than that.

BTW, I wasn't just referring to Rice in my above post. The NCAA is rumored to likely push back the baseball season-opener to mid-to-late March and have it continue through June.
