Since we tip off tomorrow at 1pm, might as well start this thread. Many probably don't even realize games start. Drexel was picked 3rd in the CAA, Penn State 11/12 (depending where you look). Penn State are 13.5 point favorites.
This will be a first challenge, for sure. We have a veteran team. We have been a miserable road team under Spiker. Has this team grown any since last season? Key points in this one will be to see how we do defensively, once again. We need big strides if we are going to have success this season. This first game is a good challenge and opportunity to show where we are.
PSU was a balanced team last year. They did graduate their leading scorer from last season. Myreon Jones will be their top scorer this season. 6-3 guard that can give you problems. I would expect Cam to match up with him. PSU isnt a particular "big" team, though their forwards are upperclassmen. I think we will need Butler to do some good work down low for us to have a chance. They are guard heavy so we will need to be prepared to have others help on defense. Our wings defense will be crucial. We will have the size advantage, but will we have the IQ and quickness needed to stay with them? We shall see.
I think this is a winnable game, but until we show something on the road, I can't have any confidence in that. Realistically, I think we have a decent first half then fall apart against this team in the 2nd.
Drexel- 62
Penn State- 77
