Full Version: Florida St Cancels on Clemson 3 Hrs Before Kickoff

Clemson and Florida St were to kickoff this morning at 11AM, but Florida St cancelled the game at 8AM and sent Clemson home. That made their fans really sad.

However, all is not lost though, the ACC fans can just switch over to the 11AM Appalachian St vs #15 Coastal Carolina game instead. It will be a better game anyway.

So were the Seminoles ducking a sure loss to ensure they could get into a minor bowl?
Interesting that there was apparently a dispute between the 2 schools medical staffs over a Clemson player that tested positive after a 3rd test so they decided to postpone the game.
Wonder why that player could just not make the trip. When Trevor Lawrence tested positive he just didn't travel. Seems like schools can make up their own rules if they don't really want to play.

Everyone is bowl eligible.

That player had already traveled with the team and participated in practice/walkthrough.

Trevor Lawrence traveled to Notre Dame with the team but couldn’t play because the ACC has a conditioning window for players who test positive, meaning once they are better, they still have a few mandatory days to check for heart issues and the like, despite not being considered contagious at that point.
Not sure how accurate tests are unless the player tested positive 3 times. There was a story last week someone got two tests at same time one in left nostril on the right. One came back positive the other negative. I'm sure the positive was added to the statistics as a new case.

This is a great example of another "strategic cancellation", or postponement. 03-lmfao Strategically, it was very good for the Florida State program.
Reports are that the player was symptomatic. Almost certainly should have been withheld from practice no matter what the tests said.

Totally different situation if the player had been asymptomatic.

Clemson may now have some community spread issues down the road if the positive test is accurate.

That wouldn’t be fair to FSU. Let them play FIU instead.

The difficulty with this is that just about everything is a sympton. If you have a common cold, you have covid symptoms. If you have a sinus infection, you have covid symptoms. If your allergies are acting up, you have covid symptoms.

Clemson claims to have taken precautions to eliminate any contact tracing issues.

If so, the onus is back on Florida State for ducking the game.

If not, Clemson can't be following the required protocols.

My money has moved to FSU ducking based on the Sunday back-and-forth.

You may be right but Swinney often comes across as arrogant. He could do with a little humility.

He has justification to be hot when his whole team traveled to Tallahassee for nothing.

Unless FSU comes out with something different. 1 player on the Clemson team tests negative, but has symptoms. Still tested negative at symptoms onset. Other teams playing with 20 or so players with actual Covid, but FSU cancels because 1 person had symptoms. Sweeney is right. FSU ducked unless they have something else to say which I doubt.

The player tested positve and had been with the team all week.

I kinda think they should have rescheduled to Sunday or Monday and tested all the Clemson players again but I'm not sure if that was on the table. Can't fault FSU for not wanting to play.
