UTSA should win by 14+.
Hope to get this one in. We've had COVID issues the past couple of weeks, causing the Rice game to be canceled and nearly the same for the UTEP game. This is our first chance at a 6th win for this season. Would be a nice achievement for our program.

You meant first chance this year, right? We've hit the 6-win mark four times so far. This year would be the fifth time in our first nine seasons of FBS play.

2012: 8-4 (WAC)
2013: 7-5 (C-USA)
2016: 6-7 (C-USA) - loss in bowl game
2017: 6-5 (C-USA)
2020: 5-4 so far (C-USA)

Frustrating that we only got a bowl invitation once in those 4 years, and it ironically was the worst of the 4 years record-wise.
Yeah, I made an edit to clarify because of the exact question you posed.
The time in this subject was incorrect. USM & ESPN show this game to be @ 3:00ET
No excuse for UTSA not to win this game.

Oh, we'll come up with many if we lose. But I agree, we should win this game.

"IF" Whatley plays I say we lose by 4-7 points........"IF" Lowe is the starter then we lose by 17 or more

Yeah, Whatley is at least a little bit of a passing threat compared to Lowe.
Hope they split the reps 50/50 this week. Lowe needs some desperately. Whatley already knows the plays. Let him recover as much as possible. He gives us a much better shot of winning the game. He has a great opportunity this Saturday.

Our defense is gaining some confidence. I hope they continue to play well.

Hate to be the negative Nancy but our last 2 opponents were NOT exactly juggernauts on offense. WKU has topped 21 points just once on the season out of 9 games and hasn't surpassed 14 points in 6 straight games. Had Whatley played at WKU we probably have a chance to win but we'll never know. The game has been played and we lost.

It is amazing that this defense could hold any D1 school to 10 points. We are basically playing with walk-ons. The DL hardly gets any pressure, the LBs are so slow and the DBs play way too far off the WRs.

100% agreed. As much as we lost less than 3 weeks before the season has relegated us to exactly what you're describing. I realize it's got to be the next man up mentality but when the roster is already depleted to begin with the next man is the 3rd string scout team player. Hopefully better days are ahead but the last 4 games vs UTSA, UAB, UTEP and FAU (assuming all 4 will be played) will be ugly unless we have a fully healthy team from top to bottom.

Yeah, I feel we would have a chance to win 2 of those with Abraham and be competitive with Whatley, but will not win any with Lowe. I was looking at the roster and I don't believe we have any other scholarship QBs left.
If Southern Miss leads at the half, you might have a chance. If not, the opposite is more likely.

We've done a terrific job in the last 3 games against UTEP, FAU, and LA Tech of making halftime adjustments defensively, as our defense has conceded an average of 209 yards (and 57 total points) in the first halves of those games, but an average of only 66 yards (and 14 total points) in the 2nd halves. It's been a similar story on the offensive side.

Then again, you guys do lead the series 4-2 and we have yet to win in Hattiesburg. I'm tempted to try and attend as I've yet to make it to Hattiesburg for a game.

This wouldn't be the year to do it. It will be empty and you won't get to enjoy the tailgating.

Yeah, aware of that, since it's like that everywhere, including our home games at the Alamodome. But as a teacher, I have next week off for Thanksgiving Break, so an opportunity like this doesn't present itself often, since there wouldn't be a huge rush to get back to Houston on Sunday so that I can finish up grading and preparing for the next day's lessons Sunday night as I normally would be forced to do.

The only thing making me think twice about it is COVID frankly. I have a strong immune system and am not worried about it myself, but I worry more for my wife because she has a weakened immune system. I already take many extra precautions as a classroom teacher to avoid bringing something home to her since there's always the chance that I may contract something and be asymptomatic.

I make all the UTSA home games in San Antonio (about 3 hours from where I live), but I'm much more familiar and comfortable with San Antonio since I lived there in the past and my parents reside there as well. Besides San Antonio, the only other place I've been since this whole thing started has been Austin because my brother lives there.

If you decide to make the trip, let us know and we can help you navigate H'burg. It's really pretty easy.
