I'm not sure if the Rockets have ever had a 6'4 player before.
Volleyball season starts tonight, 6PM against WMU. On ESPN3
Thanks N-Coast for bringing this to my attention.

I just got ESPN+ so I'm looking forward to watching the women tonight. I like women's volleyball.

I'll tune in live for this match-up in lieu of any good movies at the theaters.

Go Rockets!

Maybe she can play bball in her spare time.
Rockets lose set 1 in extra points 28-26.

Started two true freshman, including freshman setter Morman out of St. Ursula. She looks good, along with freshman Outside hitter Alt. The transfer from WVU, who is only a sophomore also played well.
Rockets take set 2, 25-19

Very impressed with the 2 true freshmen. Alt has 16 kills and 3 blocks in just 2 sets. Hitting .464.
WMU takes set 3, 26-24.
Rockets started out the set making all kinds of errors and got in a big hole ... I think it was 12-4 WMU at one point. But, they fought back to actually get a set point at 24-23, but couldn't close out the set.
Rockets dominate set 4, 25-16.
Seven blocks in that set, plus several others that didn't score immediate points.

Too bad the UT sports info people put Abby Erickson's prep info in Morman's bio.
WMU takes set 5 15-9, as the Rockets inexperience really showed there.

They'll do this again tomorrow at 5PM.

Disappointing loss, but there was a lot to be excited about. May have found a top notch setter, which UT hasn't had since, maybe Adria Pryor. Alt was all world in the 1st two sets, but looked a little more like a FR the rest of the match. Will hopefully be a fun team to watch.

They make mistakes like that on the website or the media guide in all the sports. I've tried to get them to fix once in the Football media guide but they just ignore me. Wish they took more pride in getting those things right.
Rockets @ NIU this Thursday. Let's pick up first win of 2021
Oh, forgot to post that they lost the second WMU match in 3 straight. Looked much more like last season's team in that 2nd match with bad passing and lots of errors. May be a long season again, but hopefully the young players get better as the year goes on.
Well my initial enthusiam about this team is mostly gone as the Rockets have lost their 3rd straight on the road at NIU in 5 sets. NIU was picked to finish last in the coaches poll.

UT had more kills, a much higher hitting %, more assists, more aces, more blocks and more digs, and somehow still lost the match. That's just ... I don't know how to describe that.
Rockets get their 1st win, beating NIU in three sets. By the stats, it looks like they played better, but can't say for sure since this one wasn't streamed.
Rockets had a heck of a match as Savage tonight beating previously undefeated (and defending MAC champs) Ball State in extra points, 21-19 in the fifth set. Freshman Taylor Alt was huge with 29 kills. Freshman setter Peyton Mormon had 57 assists.

Rockets and Cardinals do it again tomorrow afternoon.
Just checked the record book and 29 kills is 1 shy of the school record 30, set by Kendra Dousett way back in 1994. Wow, and she's a true freshman in her 5th career match.

Great job, Rockets!

Her bio says pops played football at Western Michigan. Nice steal by the Rockets.
