The Sports Blog refers to "Dan Quinn" as a former W&M football player who became a NFL Hear Coach. His real name is/was Dan Henning, who was Head Coach at the Atlanta Falcons and later for the San Diego Chargers [?].
"Hen" had an illustrious career in football and was a coach and Offensive Coordinator for a number of storied programs. But his most interesting coaching job was a detour into college coaching where he was Head Coach for Boston College. When he arrived at BC he discovered that players on his own team were betting on football games, even worse, he discovered that BC players were BETTING AGAINST THEIR OWN TEAM! After several attempts to solve the problem with the players that were going nowhere, Dan went to the President of the University and informed the President what was going on.

I am not sure what happened after that, and I only learned of this incident involving Henning by Googling "Dan Henning W&M" but this incident, if true, says a lot about W&M football and ethical behavior.

Unless I am missing something the article doesn't refer to Dan Quinn as a former W&M Player. Dan Quinn (who started his coaching career at W&M) and Dan Henning (the former W&M player) are two different people who both happened to be Head Coach of the Falcons...
It says Quinn was a former coach in the article. I never even thought of the connection of two Dans coaching the Falcons from the Tribe. Interesting.
Quinn was a coach on Laycock's staff at the same time McDermott & Tomlin were
playing at W&M.

Three future NFL head coaches at W&M concurrently.

Funny, my wife thinks I am crazy for even caring abut W&M teams at all. I do wonder why I care. Pre-Covid, I had local schools whose games I attend that actually go to the Big Dance on a fairly regular basis.

It's an incurable sickness. I'm sorry.

Dan Quinn was a graduate of Sailsbury State [DIV III] and his first job out of college was as an Assistant Defensive Line Coach in 1994. He was at W&M for one year before leaving to accept the same position at VMI.

Dan Henning was an All Conference level QB for W&M who attended and graduated from W&M. He was a "big deal" while at W&M and was drafted by the pros and spent several years in the NFL before going into coaching.

There should be no confusion between the "2 Dans" with respect to their relationship to W&M or W&M Football.
Mr. Henning, is that you?
NC Tribe always (in)directly injects Davidson into the conversation. He'll occasionally apply a cuckold mention about his love of JMU, too.

Nope, but he was an acquaintance and classmate. And a very good guy.
Yeah I figured with the 62 in your handle that there was at least a passing connection.
