Non of the Tiger running backs have created much electricity. Martin nothing. Clark has power but hasn't really broken anything for a big big run. To me Watkins has shown the most promise. He has enough speed, good balance, and good vision. If he can develop enough patience he might develop into a real Tiger back. Here is hoping someone shows out soon. Sure do miss Kenny this year. If for nothing more than being the example to the newer guys.
Watkins appears to shy away from contact.
Neither shows separation speed.
They both hang onto the ball pretty well.
They’d both look better if they were getting the holes to run through. But neither is a Henderson, pollard, or Gainwell.
It is what it is.
I have not been impressed with Watkins. Too weak. Seems to go down on first contact and is not much of a blocker. He’s quick and can get to the edge, but that’s about it.

I much prefer Clark. He runs hard, blocks, but just lacks vision. We’’ve been spoiled with Henderson, Pollard, & Gibson.
Would love to see Thomas get some PT.

Yep, none are Henderson, Gainwell & I'd add Gibson. All exceptional talents that we don't have on this roster. And Pollard is sorely missed in the return game. When Pollard was returning kicks, opponents would kick short & allow us to start at the 35-40 & call it a success.
Like to see Martin, Weaver, and Grandberry get some looks...
Watkins falls over when he's breathed on. #shoelaces
Clark IMO.
Clark seems to have lost a step as the season goes on, ever since that fumble against UCF on the goal line.

If you notice in pure passing situations, Watkins is always in. My guess is he has better hands. He provided a couple of critical check down catches during the comeback on Saturday to move the chains, mane.

I always thought that Henderson was under utilized his first couple of seasons, especially his freshman season. Clark and Watkins are probably at the same level as Taylor and a slight tier above Warford, Dorceus, Jamarius Henderson, and Brandon Hayes. So any evaluation we give them is going to be grossly unfair because of Henderson and Gainwell preceding them.

It's kind of like comparing any team to the 2008 basketball team. We have had the good fortune to 2 out of the 3 of the school's running backs play for us in the last 3 years.

I'm impressed with both of them, while understanding that they aren't among two of the three best running backs we've ever had in our history. They stack up very well with every single running back between DeAngelo and Henderson and Gainwell.

Tony Pollard is performing at an equal level to Elliot in Dallas, and he wasn't getting half the carries that Henderson and Taylor got. Dorceus was a very good running back who became an afterthought when Henderson and Taylor emerged.

Clark and Watkins are both very good running backs seeing their first significant action. Clark will be close to great by the time he is a senior.

JMO, Dorceus ran much better between the tackles than either Clark or Watkins before his injury. He also seemed to be quicker to the hole and faster. Clark has a hard time hitting the right hole, he lacks vision to see openings. Watkins dances too much, using a stutter step. At this level that does not fool anyone. All it does is allows the defense to catch up to you. Neither Clark now Watkins have breakaway speed like Henderson and Gainwell. They are serviceable but not magical home run threats when they touch the ball. We really miss the home run threats of previous years. They are doing their best but for any team it is hard to rebound when we lose talent like Gainwell, Coxie and Pollard.
Glad they are both here.
Ike can tell everyone, TIGERNATION will be getting a UNBELIEVABLE running back coming next yr.
He will release additional information when sources allow.
With just 4 games left no reason not to ride some of the freshmen in a few games.
