This game is a must win if we to go to A bowl in my opinion! And, Ball St has a dominant RB in Huntley! It comes down to our DL not getting blown off the ball, we must improve tackling, and our DB must be able to cover better! Game 2 typically is a team's biggest improvement! On offense Hutchinson has to not throw into traffic, and force the ball, Grissom has to play more, and we've run the ball consistently! It will come down to our defense....And as EagleSam said where do our wins come! This won't be easy!

CJ Parks?
Any injury updates? Wondering about some of the guys we didn't see at all (Parks and Drummond) and guys that got hurt like Boone. I think there was some movement on the o-line too, can't remember who went out.

The biggest problem we, as a forum, have is that we are 'flying blind' as to this kind of information.
I did notice on the depth chart that Drummond is listed (although he was last week too), and so is Boone.

The biggest problem we, as a forum, has is that we are 'flying blind' as to this kind of information.

In this world of COVID, guys could be out because they tested positive or were in close proximity to someone who did. And with confidentiality issues, particularly related to healthcare, the coaches can't share specific information about who or what. So when we don't see or hear about specific players, it might be a COVID issue.

Other issues could come into play also such as injuries, academics, or disciplinary issues. Again, confidentiality comes into play, so names and circumstances likely would not be shared. Obviously, if a player had a broken leg or blew out a knee that would probably be known, but if a guy is struggling with a back issue or a sore ankle, he may be day-to-day, so the coaches wouldn't know if he will be available.

For travel games this year, the team is only traveling 70 guys. That means for any given road game a number of guys will be left in Ypsilanti. Along with the reasons mentioned above, a coach might not be happy with a player's performance in practice or be really impressed by someone else. So a player may sit at home simply because a coach didn't think he was the best player on the field that week.

Then, of course, there is the concern about tipping off your opponent about who may or may not be in the game, thereby allowing them the chance to develop schemes to take advantage of when a regular starter might be out for a game.

All of these are reasons coaches may be reluctant to, or restricted from, sharing the status of any given player.

Very well stated. I always warn fans to be careful about speculating.

Parks is not listed. Kempton Shine gets a start at DB.

yeah the depth charts listed this year mean next to nothing probably. anything can change any minute.
Also, FYI, if you simply look at the score you'll see Ball State was competitive with Miami.

BUT Miami's starting QB went out with a head injury early in the game. I think if Gabbert plays the full game it's no so close.
Didn't all the bowl games we usually go to get cancelled this year because of covid?

I mean the whole season was cancelled at one time.

Probably depends on where the money comes from. If all you're doing is putting on an exhibition game for the cameras, it's no problem. If you're trying to extort universities for ticket sales, it's a big problem.

I can throw this in another thread if you like, but this virus is accelerating a lot of the murmurs about mid-level D1 football. Specifically, it's showing us a season where the P5 has finally taken away the payday games, the NCAA can't enforce minimum ticket sales, and universities aren't sure if the vague publicity gains from playing in a junket bowl game in, say, the Carribean is worth the blowback.

I saw him get a target as a WR last game. Transitioning him to WR or TE? I'm all for getting playmakers the ball and if he can make plays, good on him and the coacing staff for being open to a new position.

WOW! He is a splendid athlete. Then again, EMU is a University charged with providing career paths and better experiences for all it students. Apparently he did not have the skill sets to remain at QB, I will root for him at his new position.

Another viewpoint. Joe Burrow, Heisman Trophy winner, NCAA champion QB and number one NFL draft pick would not have started one game in college had he not transferred from OSU. That stuff happens.
