I am having second thoughts about this coaching staff. Granted, Covid and all this crap makes for a unique situation with players opting out, sitting out for testing positive, whatever.

Is this the beginning of the downhill slide of the program?

Is your glass half empty or half full?
Not having spring football with new coaching staff didn't help.
Lord this thread is premature and borders on subversive.
They are five - FIVE - games into their initial season. Isn't it a little early to be jumping off the cliff?

As HHT pointed out there was no Spring practice to install any type of system on both sides of the ball. They are hobbling along with the players that want to stay and trying to work with what they have in schemes they can use from last year.

Seems like I've heard somewhere that these are "unprecedented times". I think that applies here too. And the University has shown during our history that they will fire a coach when necessary, albeit maybe not as soon as some fans would want. FWIW, I trust the leadership at the school now to make better decisions in a timely manner than the "good ole boy" crew that used to sacrifice football for basketball in our not too distant past. They've made the commitment to football with the help of boosters and I don't think they want to go back any time soon.

In other words - fugetaboutit....

What was our record 2 years ago.

8-6

And Missouri beat our brains in that year.

It may turn out that Silverfield is not the answer...But right now his perfromance is no worse than Norvel's

He got that UCF monkey off our back, so there’s that.
Years away from firing our coach. This topic should not even be posted. Please remove it.

Good grief you have to be kidding me with this thread.
There was talk early on about making the college playoff and winning the national championship. 5 games later there is talk of the downfall of the program. Neither of these are unprecedented for the org.
I'm OK with Silverfield, but can we fire MacIntyre?
New head coach, COVID, no spring practice, weeks between games at time this season, unexpectedly lost his All American running back, best receiver quit mid season and he still managed to beat UCF. Cincinnati is just a really good football team and better than we are this year in every aspect of the game. Big losses to every coach at some point. There is certainly no reason to be pressing the panic button at this point. We had SMU beat had our senior QB not made an inexcusable mistake of not protecting the ball on our final drive...

Holly moly -- are you out of your mind. This team lost all their top offensive weapons, the new guys did not have a spring practice and the new coach beat UCF -- something the other coaches could not do.
And by the way -- Cincinnati is a really good team!

I am proud to be a tiger and glad to have the coaches we have.

You and calkins need to get a room!

Hopefully poster forgot to add the /sarcasm tag...
There is zero reason to question this staff this year with all that has gone on right now. Next year when we get a full off-season and still play lax, then you can whine.

So that's were this mess came from?

How many years? Two?
I'm not basing anything on this start and stop season.
What's wrong with discussing things that the team could do to improve itself? Players and coaches. Is this a discussion forum? Every team is going through Covid. Not just the Memphis Tigers. When you lose a game by 39 points while not gaining a yard rushing the football, there's plenty to talk about.
