I wouldn’t be worried about UofM being interested in Mac. You have to understand the psych of a UofM fan/booster. They’d never lower their standards to hire just a “MAC” level coach, let alone a G5 coach. They’d only be satisfied with a “higher” level candidate. Trust me. They have their noses so far in the air that they wouldn’t even begin to sniff around Mt Pleasant.

Past history has coaches from the MAC going to Big 10 jobs. Bo Schembechler came from Miami of Ohio to become coach at Michigan. Times may have changed in thinking about coaches being considered for big time jobs, but I wouldn't bet on McElwain being elevated to that level with his questionable background.

Hawks, I appreciate your condescension of scUM, I really do. Believe me, Mac will be on their short list. He was an assistant there, and he's won everywhere he's been. I propose we appoint him AD/HC and he can then delegate AD functions to Brunner/LeFevour. If/when he leaves, Brunner can take complete control of AD, and Fev can slide into HC.

Anyone who thinks UofM will take another chance on a Mid American coach after the Brady Hoke debacle of his final 2 years isn’t paying attention to UofM history with their big time boosters and donations. They’d fry the UofM AD at the stake and turn off the money faucet if he hired a MAC coach again. Won’t happen.
The reason Brady failed at scUM is because he spent too much time at all-you-can-eat buffets. Well, that and being dismissive about spit-shields over the food.
