I looked up one of my news sourcing sites for "Cincinnati AAC Football," and it gave me the FC Cincinnati score!
What hotel will they be using? I'll park my RV in the middle of their lot, set up the PA and jam out MacArthur Park by Richard Harris on a continual loop...

One large enough they can do a walk through on Friday. Memphis can't use Nippert on Friday, painting the field for football, and they declined Sheakley for 5:30

I suspect they will use Graduate Cincinnati Hotel which used to be The Marriott Kingsgate (a block from campus).

Quote:Cincinnati should be the team riled up for this one. It should be the team out for vengeance. Memphis coach Ryan Silverfield expects nothing less from Saturday’s American Athletic Conference championship game rematch between the Bearcats and Tigers.

“This is probably a game they had circled on their calendar,” Silverfield said Monday. “If you’re them and I’m them, it’s probably up in their weight room, this game circled, the Memphis logo on there somewhere. I’m sure their kids are pissed off, and rightfully so.”

It all sounded as you expected heading into a game that could determine the trajectory of the season for both teams. Until Silverfield revealed a detail about a hotel parking lot that might just conjure up the outrage everyone associated with the Memphis football program needs to fend off the obvious revenge factor Cincinnati can use this week.

The day before the Tigers’ most important football game of the season, they’re going to hold their weekly Victory Walk and walk-through in the parking lot of their team hotel because Cincinnati won’t allow Memphis to hold it in Nippert Stadium.

Silverfield said he will have to simply show Memphis players pictures of Nippert Stadium in an attempt to familiarize themselves with a venue no current members of the Tigers’ roster has played at before.

It’s because, according to Silverfield, Nippert Stadium is hosting a FC Cincinnati game this week and the University of Cincinnati informed Memphis that it would still be painting the field for football Friday when the Tigers usually hold their walkthrough upon arriving in town.

This subsequently prompted a glance at the schedule of Cincinnati’s MLS team. It showed that FC Cincinnati plays Wednesday night. Which prompted this thought: There are high school parents who volunteer to line football fields all over the country every fall that would seem capable of lining a football field between late Wednesday night and Friday afternoon.

So then I reached out to the AAC. Surely, there’s a conference policy regarding walk-throughs.

“Conference policy on walk-throughs is that if the home team is not able to use the game field for practice the day before a game, then it is not obligated to make the field available for the visiting team and would provide the visiting team with an alternate practice location, if desired,” an AAC spokesperson wrote back in an email.

So then I reached out to Cincinnati for an explanation about what happened given these stipulations. Surely, the Bearcats didn’t offer a hotel parking lot as an alternate practice location.

“We offered Memphis a walk-through time at the Sheakley Athletics Center at 5:30 p.m. Friday, following Cincinnati’s practice, but they declined and said it was too late and they would walk-through at their hotel,” a Cincinnati athletics spokesperson wrote back in an email.

“The turf at Nippert Stadium is painted on Friday for a Saturday game, something we had to start five years ago when FC Cincinnati started playing games on site. As a result, Nippert Stadium has not been offered as a walk-through site for the home or visiting teams in the last five years.”

So is this, by and large, much ado about nothing? Did this local sports columnist jump the gun on social media calling this a “bush league stunt” by Cincinnati? Is that the end of this story? Probably.

Or maybe this is exactly the gamesmanship that had gone missing in college football this year, ever since the coronavirus pandemic made all of us thankful we’re just able to watch college football this fall. Maybe the details are irrelevant so long as Silverfield can use this to his advantage facing a top-10 team that lost to Memphis in back-to-back weeks last year.

The Tigers are going to be throwing footballs outside on the concrete of a parking lot Friday, while Cincinnati holds a walk-through in its plush indoor practice facility.

That's the truth, no matter how harmlessly we arrived at it.

Memphis should be outraged about it
, if only because the other team has plenty to be mad about after last year.

Wait... We have a "plush indoor practice facility"??? Besides the inflatable bubble that goes up over the Sheakley field(s)???
Hope Fick, Freeman, and Co use this for their advantage as well. “Memphis thinks we have to resort to shenanigans to win because they don’t believe we are good enough on just our talent. They think we are using Bush League tactics...”
After back to back losses to lose the conference last year I reckon our boys are plenty motivated.

Memphis players on offense may be glad they practiced on asphalt Friday. It will prepare them well for being knocked hard onto the Nippert turf by the Blackcat defense Saturday afternoon.

Coach, your team was dominated in all three phases of the game. Can you tell me how much of that was because you had to conduct a walkthrough in a parking lot and not at Nippert Stadium?
