I am watching a game from 2001 between La Salle and St. Joseph's. It was Jameer Nelson's first college season, I believe. He was the college Player of the Year his senior season. It is seldom that schools at that level get POY type players, but it does happen occasionally. David Robinson won it. Bird won it. Obi Toppin won it this year. Maybe once per decade.

I sure do remember Jameer Nelson! My son was a freshman on the Richmond Spiders in the Atlantic 10 in Nelson’s senior year at St. Joseph’s. That was the year that St. Joseph’s had an unbelievably good team and came within an eyelash of going to the Final Four. In addition to St. Joseph, the A-10 also put Dayton, Xavier, and Richmond in the NCAA Tournament that year!
