(You don't do this to upgrade from the SWAC to the Big Sky or MVFC or Colonial).
Is the incentive to change conferences for football or just change their primary conference? They could go FBS independent and join a different conference that would accept their non-football sports like the Atlantic Sun. If the goal is to join as a football member in FBS, only the Sun Belt makes any remote sense.

I think you guys are misapprehending this. Neither JSU nor Deion wants to leave the SWAC as it is obviously the best home for them. Deion has a clause in there paying him if they do as compensation for losing the SWAC platform.
Jackson State to the SBC is the best place they can go to. Large school, an FBS sieze stadium, and right smack dab in the middle of the conference's footprint.
