As the B10 is now second guessing its self-righteous "principles", after assessing the business realities associated with cancelling its fall sports, and watching the majority of D1 schools playing, I haven't heard anything about the MAC "further evaluating" its decision. It is still hard for me to digest canceling a season for a virus when the data and science confirms covid-19 has far less than pandemic-worthy effect on young and healthy people, the virus focuses its most significant health dangers on the oldest and most unhealthy portion of the population; both of which can be easily removed from college sports operations.
I saw that the NY Times, a leader in liberal mantra, reported that 90% of those who have tested positive for covid-19 dont even have enough of the virus to be contagious. Great news for those rooting for an end to the "covid crisis", or "pandemic". Not so much for those who know the destruction of our economy, and the horrible way this BS has affected peoples lives, has actually improved their agendas; but I digress.
Is the MAC waiting for the B10 to make a decision, and then just mindlessly follow suit? Or is anyone advocating for a return to football before the opportunity passes them by?

It was never about the health effects from the MAC perspective. It was always about the fact that their schools can't afford the testing. I saw last week that WMU is paying $55 per test. Say you need to test at minimum 140 people (players/coaches/staff). Leagues are mandating two or three tests per week. You're looking at almost $25,000 PER WEEK for "adequate" testing. Never going to happen in the MAC.
I have a friend with a son playing college football. During summer practice, the players were actively trying to catch covid. The incentive? A 10 day quarantine in an air-conditioned apartment with video games and no practice in the heat.

I suspect this is true, and the MAC didn’t have the balls to admit that money was primarily driving the decision.
Aren't they practicing anyways? I actually think it's the opposite where they blew up the money situation out of proportion. Don't get me wrong, MAC schools are hurting financially, but I think a lot of these costs you're spending on whether a season's played or not

Because the "SCIENCE" proves there is very little threat to young healthy athletes, beyond the threat of sickness or injury which occurs every year; and most parents, coaches and administrators who have been actually paying attention to the facts know that. Covid-19 is what it is, and isn't what it isn't. Not suggesting that a kid cant get covid-19, but rather that, even if they do get it serious problems are quite rare for generally healthy young people who are positive. We know a lot about it now which we didn't know in March.
The charade continues, but even for those who generally acquiesce to the bs, when it comes between them and something they really value (like football), even the compliant will stand up.

If we're being honest - they aren't playing because the science says it's safe to play. They are playing because their governing bodies aren't mandating testing. If they were, they would not be playing.
I suspect this is going to turn into an argument about if COVID is actually bad or not, of which I have no appetite to take part in anymore.

With regards to the high schools playing argument - the difference is Mom & Dad drop off their kids a practice and are still responsible for these athletes.
In college, the colleges are responsible. HUGE liability difference and colleges are risk-averse by nature.
Not saying this is right or wrong but that's the reality right now.
Looks like the BIG is going to an 8-game schedule and starting in October.

Utica HS has cancelled its game due to an outbreak and Vandercook is going to 8-man.

I am a believer in the dangers of Covid, but I am very torn on the MAC’s stance. The fact that it is about money is worse than it being about the dangers of Covid.
It makes the conference look Mickey Mouse.
It was hard enough to recruit before, how hard will it be going forward? Kids jumped ship before when better came along, now it is a no brainer.
The mockery of this conference just continues.
