Thanks for posting this. Really thought the game would have pullled a larger audience but I did not see what we were up against in terms of other programming on TV at the same time.

The way the world is right now, I would bet all sports ratings are down. I'm not interested in any sports outside of Memphis.

Last year's weekly comp was 1.6M for BYU/UT in the ESPN primetime game.

Same here. After the Grizz were eliminated I have not watched 1 minute of the NBA.
I mean, it was Arky State. Contrary to one guy thinking they are the Boise of the South, they don't really draw like a P6 program. Probably a lot of channel flipping with the game part of the rotation.

NBA down 40% over the last couple of years.
NBA has nothing for me anymore.

NBA is on self distruct. Not sure exactly how much ad revenue they have lost but....based on declining ratings....it has to be a lot. Lots of people can live without the NBA and they have turned it into a political organization but....it has backfired. I know a lot of Hispanics who think they matter just as any other minority group.

I wonder if the NFL will suffer the same fate. We lost alot of views from closed bars.
Ike has become disgusted with all pro sports, players no longer have loyalty to their fans and often say it's a business and they r KORRECT however, It's a two way street and fans have taken the attitude, I could care less
Add in the amount of money they r paid and Ike has no problem with what they make, u r worth what someone is willing to pay u.
There is not a easy answer here but, pro sports will destroy itself with greed and BTW the agents are adding to the demise.
Ike wonders how TIGERNATION would have faired had KENNY GEE been on stage, arguably the best back in the Nation with a shot at the Heisman. Well it is what it is and it ain't what it ain't.
Bummer the ratings weren't better. I assume we got a B in a normal season but given we where the only show in town we thought we'd get a AA+?

I dunno how ratings work
Through this pandemic people have shown they can do without sports. I think all will suffer ratings declines... and it will take years to get them back.

I tend to agree. People are dealing with a lot right now and sports has taken a back seat. I’m a sports junkie and I haven’t watched the NHL and NBA since the Preds and Grizzlies were bounced.

With that said, I plan to watch the NFL, college football, and college basketball. Especially when it gets colder and there is even less to do.

I watched because it was Memphis. I have watched zero sports this year outside of Pro Motocross. I race myself and I’m in the industry but outside of the Tigers my interest in stick and ball sports is waining.

Same. I've watched a handful of Dodgers games as background noise, but other than that sports hasn't been that important lately.
When do they take the ratings?

  1. When the game kicks off?
  2. After the 1st qtr when the game is underway?
  3. After everyone turns off the TV due to the incessant SJW rantings by the announcers?

usually its an average throughout the broadcast. Many times the ratings companies can tell you which part of the game had the highest rating.
I will continue to watch and support the university, because the players are kids and the school desperately needs the money, especially compared to cartel schools. When it comes to the NBA and NFL I am in full take mode. I'll watch the games because I enjoy them, but I won't spend a penny on merchandise, nor will I support and of their advertisers. I would be thrilled if plummeting tv ratings and revenues forced the players to play for half of what they are making now.

IF Fox News and CNN decide to switch to an all sports format, I will accept the NBA and NFL going to an all politics format.
