Provide the support and contacts needed from afar, from a location with secure utilities. It would have been a win-win and proactive.

But clearly that was not the plan, given that he didn’t explain that from the start. He threw his daughters under the bus, then his wife’s text thread about a vacation was leaked.

You just made a couple of norm bending statements...

"But clearly that (i.e. go to a place and get work done) was not the plan"

Hate to tell you that *no one* takes a trip these days without work some work impinging. But here, you lead us to believe that the intent was to do nothing -- that is not even bother.

First, you pull this out of thin ait; then fill it in with specious reasoning; then come to a specious endpoint.

Assuming the worst, do you seriously believe that Cruz 'wasnt going to take advantage of broadband' and studiously ignore anything and everything for the duration?

Or is this the brand new certainty that is now bedrock reality for you?

Just use your brain - had Cruz planned to work remotely, he wouldn't have lied about why he was going on the trip.

Funny thing, I seem to remember a slew of people telling me that, based on what was *not* said*, I was off base designating specific intent.

Care to guess who that might be? I can think of two right off the bat.

Awesome job being our omniscient know it all into someone else's intent, intentions, and reson d'etre. Pretty fing impressive there. You are seemingly wasting good years out of your life drilling holes, not to mention the disservice you are paying to world by keeping your all knowing knowledge of everyone's intent and intention at all times from being used more often. <slow clap>

Seriously, what's your issue with my profession?

You keep bringing it up in a denigrating and condescending way, as if it's relevant to any of these conversations.

Regardless of your seemingly odd focus on one aspect of my job being related to drilling, it seems odd that you think people can't use context clues to infer someone's intentions.

I would say I have zero issue with your profession. I am applauding your omniscience in seemingly every facet of life. I would also hazard a guess that that level of omniscience would make your focusing on any one thing a true tragedy for humankind.

Good to hear - not sure why you keep bringing it up. What was the purpose there?

I'm sorry you take issue with me analyzing a situation and offering my opinion on it. Hell, it sounds like you take issue with me analyzing any situation and offering any opinion on it, unless you deem me to be an expert in the field.

Would you be less worked up if I said, "in my opinion," in front of everything I wrote?

While his supporters may say 'getting his hands dirty' or that 'him doing this is still better than him doing nothing or going to Mexico', I'd still say that he's just practicing political theatre... and because of the circumstances, it is unbelievably transparent and probably even to his supporters, does more harm than good (because of its transparency). Its stupid... In my mind, he's actually compounding his poor optics. He ignored the optics going in, and now he's a 'slave' to them? Jesus.
Also FTR, while he's doing this I also saw that the house committee passed the 1.9 trillion stimulus... while Cruz was handing out water and I guess AOC is still tweeting for donations.

Cruz is really not very good at the electoral side of politics. He managed to turn "Beto" into a household name by running maybe the worst campaign since Claytie Williams, against an intellectually lightweight Irish lad pretending to be Hispanic whose own campaign featured nothing more than a toothy grin and a bunch of selfies.
lad, you state (paraphrase so you dont jump your pony) that 'since ted lied about the trip, he *must* have not intended to do any remote work'.

Teds initial statement was: a) 'he went because his girls wanted to'; and b) 'I am coming home this afternoon'.

b) is not a lie, since it was in fact a true statement, noting a future action that occurred.

So apparently you say, as your lock solid proof, because he lied that he went because his girls wanted to, that is lock solid proof of his intention not to do anything, nor use any service to 'do work' (or in this case, be in contact with staff and others on the issue0.

Please do tell your connection there?

Or even assume the non-lie case in which the texts show the Cruz parents planned the trip with friends (which apparently Heidi did do), how is even *that* proof of *anything* about his intention to get something, anything done?

And lad, my comment back to you isnt because 'you have an opinion' or whatever the fk you said. Have an opinion all you fing want.

When it is tied spuriously to the ether, an overriding insistence will get a comment on the spuriousness.

When you add 'use your brain' as an addition, well that gets the 'omniscient arrogant know it all' response. Especially when it comes to knowing as an absolute fact what someone's intentions are, which you both use as a weapon to defuse other's points, but oh so happily pick up the effort to do so at the drop of a hat. Capiche?

Since you know for certain Ted's intentions, I suggest a career of jury consulting for the omniscient junior. Or better yet, high stakes poker. No reason you can use that absolute certainty in other's personal thoughts and drives in manner far more productive than you currently do.

So now, my kids want to to go to Central Texas this weekend. That is a lie. I guess that is a true indication of my overriding intention to not utilize any means to get my normal work done. At least in your viewpoint. Sounds like fun

And that he went to every county in Texas, mind you. True depth.
