One of the common denominators through the years in Pirate athletics was Lee. He was there from the mid 1980’s until he retired recently. He wore lots of hats in the Pirate athletics administration. The Sports Objective recently did this interview with him. He talks about a lot of things to include many of the Pirate traditions we see today and how they got started. He played a big part in many of those things. Great interview.

I am going to have to play that video soon. He definitely put his time and work into ECU for sure.

One thing I thought was interesting about the interview was that we kind of followed the example of the Gamecocks with tailgating. He said when the Gamecocks came in the 1980’s they brought about 10,000 fans and were decked out in their colors and flying their flags and pretty much took over Greenville. And from then on that’s the model we followed when it came to tailgating according to Lee.
